POLL FRAUD: No cell phones are called.
No mainstream political poll in includes a single cell phone user!

Jimmy Breslin: "Anybody who believes these national political polls are giving you facts is a gullible fool. Any editors of newspapers or television news shows who use poll results as a story are beyond gullible. On behalf of the public they profess to serve, they are indolent salesmen of falsehoods. This is because these political polls are done by telephone. Land-line telephones, as your house phone is called. The telephone polls do not include cellular phones. There are almost 169 million cell phones being used in America today ...Not one cell phone user has received a call on their cell phone asking them how they plan to vote as of today." But college surveys show that an overwhelming majority of the nations tens of millions of 18-24 year olds support John Kerry. And guess what group most heavily relies on cell phones? The 18-24 year olds! How convenient for the Bushie media that these are the very people undercounted in polls!

4. He's right...my cell phone is my house phone...
...internet via cable modem...not only have I never been called, but I often think about people who have been. My parents (both in their 70's) have been called and refused to take the time to talk to pollsters...they are too busy and, as a result, two Kerry suporters that never make the tally.

5. again
its not the cell phones. Its that the polls are not being weighted to properly reflect the makeup of the electorate.

6. Yep, I still have a land line but I never ever answer it - I screen calls
This means I will NEVER be part of a poll EVER. And I am now admitting that I am a liberal. Yes, I am a liberal!

8. Same here
Land line, but in recent months I've turned the ringer on my phone off. My phone also has a blinky light on it so if I'm sitting at my desk when someone calls I'll usually notice it but I am no longer bothered by ringing whenever I'm away from my desk. Further, I never answer the phone unless I recognize who's calling on the caller ID. Anyone or anything else just gets my voicemail -- which I don't hear because it's taken care of by the phone company.

9. And have you noticed as I have that I get a lot more
hangups than ever, except of course before the "do not call" list. I have at least 2 handups a day, but I still refuse to answer the phone until I screen the call.

7. Isn't there a law that they can't call cell phones?
Zogby is right though. Phones are just unreliable for polling anymore. Even if they could or did call cell phones, you wouldn't know from the area code where the person you called lived. The same thing for VOIP. I can easily get a California number through Vonage (I live in NY) yet to anyone calling me it would appear that I lived in California (and they would get billed as if I lived in California if they're still with the dinosaur telcos).

13. I have been called
but when I signed up for my cell, I filled out an on-line thing where I said I would like to be polled. So I probably gave up my right to complain. Maybe it would have been illegal to call me if I hadn't of said "oh it's OK"

11. This just shows that there's a whole ...
voting block out there not being counted and that could be very favorable for Democrats.

A lot of people don't even use their land-line phones anymore.

14. I never answer my phone...
Me too. I gave up answering the phone years ago and just turned the ringer off. If I happen to see the caller-ID flash and I recognize the caller, I will answer. Otherwise, all calls go to the answering machine.

Each and every day I have at least five calls where they either hang up or you hear a person in a roomfull of other phone canvassers saying "May I please speak to Mr. or Mrs. Sally343434?". These calls frequently come from "Anonymous" or "Unavailable." However, some of the ignored calls have interesting Caller-ID associated with them:

"Toll Free" with an 877 number
"Contact America" (These guys have been calling several times a day)
"Market Probe"

Many of these calls have names I would associate with surveys.

15. Kerry strategy to discredit all polls
Kerry needs to use this information in his stump speeches, along with other polling inconsistencies, to totally discredit all polls. While doing so, he needs to ask all democrats and all who plans to vote for him not to respond to pollsters. This strategy will immediately bring all polls into question because the candidate has asked that no one make know their vote for him until Nov. 2nd. We'll call them (us) the silent majority. As his poll numbers fade the anxiety and uncertainty build over who truly is the front runner. The more anxiety, the higher the turnout. Waiting for flawed polls to swing in his favor is unlikely to happen. So, while this strategy is admittedly radical and unprecedented (as far as I know), it might be a tactic worth exploring.

16. polling for the 21st century ...

... honestly, I think that cable and satellite boxes will become the polling methodology of choice. Just credit poll takers $.50 on their bill.

Polling underserved areas (people without cable) can be accomplished by giving out shwag at supermarkets in return for filling out surveys. I can even see email polls being takent into account via contracts with ISPs to do random polling.

Bottom line is, that polling methodologies are broken. New models need to be developed.

17. Let 'em think that.
I think it's good if the Right doesn't feel too obligated to take time away from their busy days. If they think they lead by 9% and cell phone users aren't counted, great. It's not like we are going to sit at home just because the press tells us it's an uphill battle.

I hope.

19. If this is true
that the polls are skewed because they are not reaching a large group of folks, then Team Bush is going to be in for a big surprise on election day, which is just fine with me. Let them keep thinking their Chosen One is doing well, they won't know what hit them when Kerry wins in a landslide.
