Senator Brown was just on the Ed Schultz Show. He does not support a trigger saying that we had given insurance companies 50 years to change, and they had not. He sees no need to kick the can down the road.

Senator Jay Rockefeller also weighed in today to say that he also does not support a trigger.

1. I'll never forget what he did to Paul Hackett, but Sherrod Brown is a decent guy.
I have a problem with insiders, but Brown is at least an insider with the right idea (most of the time).

3. Hackett-Brown
Hmmm...I thought it was the Shumer-Reid faction who selected Brown...but Paul sure got us excited back in the day. *sigh* :kick:

4. Brown told Haskett personally that he wasn't running...and then ran anyway .
As good as Brown may be, Hackett got a raw deal.

2. "Triggers" are complete bullshit, just like the insurance "Co-ops"....
Edited on Fri Oct-23-09 03:48 PM by LaPera
Triggers are never pulled and it's business as usual for the disgusting insurance corporations allowing them to suck up billions more of OUR tax dollars...

We need a strong Public Option NOW!

5. I appreciate what Brown, Rockefeller and a few others are doing
but it pisses me off that WH even NEEDS pressuring. They should be the ones applying pressure to congress. All we keep getting is mixed signals. One day I hear the administration wants the public option. The next day I hear they don't require it. The day after that I hear they are willing to allow crap like a trigger in place.

It's time for them to know what they want and put the heat on congress to do it. Stop fucking squirming around and stand firm for God's sake. The same goes with Reid, but in his case I think it's a lost cause. Pelosi is one of the few looking like she's got her reps in order.

6. Good, better, best
Pelosi is doing the exact same thing, negotiating with her caucus. She doesn't have any solid public option plan yet either.

This is how democracy works. If WE want a public option, WE need to do a whole lot more than we have to fight for it.
