Pawlenty not backing Republican candidate
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) did not offer support for the Republican candidate running in a special election in New York's 23rd District.

Pawlenty, speaking to reporters after his political action committee held its first fundraiser, said he did not know enough about the candidates to make an endorsement, and that he had not been following the race. Assemblywoman Dede Scozzafava (R) is facing a challenge from the right in Conservative Party nominee Doug Hoffman. Attorney Bill Owens is the Democratic candidate.

"I haven't been following that," Pawlenty said of the contest. "I haven't studied the race at all. It's not that I would or wouldn't , I just don't know anything about it."

Conservative organizations like the American Conservative Union, the Club for Growth and pro-life groups are backing Hoffman, while the National Rifle Association and the centrist Republican Main Street Partnership are backing Scozzafava.

1. I read where Palin endorsed this candidate, too. I wondered if there are plans
afoot to start a third party...

2. It doesn't matter how much you 'study', Pawlenty:

You don't know much about anything.

What a jerk. I hate that cross-eyed little putz.

3. Some more of that decisive leadership we've come to so despise
here in Minnesota.

5. Could this be the beginning of a conservative party -v-republicon party?
This looks like old school republicans-v-bat shit crazy fundy right. Republicans did, indeed, wake up a sleeping giant and they have zippo control over them.

6. Sounds like he was being honest. There are TWO repubs in the running, and he hadn't
studied up on them to know the difference. Plus, he's a Minnesota Gov., so it doesn't really matter what he thinks about those two candidates.

7. I'm with you. I don't know that I'd want my governor focused on races outside of my state
esp. when there's more pressing matters in my state.

9. The candidate had to go all the way to Alaska to find someone to endorse them?
