6. Special Master is a legal term...
A special master, in law, is an authority appointed by a judge to make sure that judicial orders are actually followed.

At common law, there were "masters in chancery," who acted in aid of the Equity Courts. There were also "masters in lunacy," who conducted inquiries on the same nature as modern civil commitment proceedings.

A special master is an "adjunct" to a federal court, and Rule 53 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure allows a federal court to appoint a master, with the consent of the parties, to conduct proceedings and report to the Court.

7. This is basically what it's all about, even though there is a "master" title involved.
It's a dog whistle and not particularly subtle, but then again, nothing about Drudge is, basically.

8. Execs had their own self-fulfilling prophecy. The "master" in the WH had nothing to do with that.
Especially at AIG where they accepted bets on both sides of a transaction so in the long term they had no way to win. Didn't stop them from reaping the profits in the meantime.
