March 10: 6547.... October 14: 10000

Whether or not you think the Stock Market has anything to do with the economy or the President, it is clear that in February and March of 2009 conservatives tied the Dow Jones to Barack Obama's leg. We had the following quotes back then:

Rush Limbaugh: "Obama should be out of the country more...because the stock market goes up when he does"

Larry Kudlow: "The stock market going down is a reflection of Obama's socialist policy"

Mitt Romney: "Under Obama, Stock Market Fell 10%"

Gateway Pundit: "President Obama keeps racking up a dreadful record. The Dow has dropped faster under Obama than any other new president in 90 years."

Michelle Malkin: "Hussein Obama's stock market plunge continues."

RightPundits.com: "Barack Obama has so far had the worst stock market performance of any new President in American history."

So..... the stock market collapse that began in September of 2008 and ended in March of 2009 was Obama's fault, in the world view of the whack jobs on the right, but now that it is back to 10,000 - it's no big deal? (According to John Boehner)

Can't have it both ways repukes. If you were blaming obama for Dow-6547 on March 10th, you have to credit him for Dow-10000 on October 14th.

I look forward to hearing the mea culpas from Michelle Malkin, Rush Limbaugh, and the rest about how Obama was single-handedly crashing the Dow.

3. K&R
Couldn't agree more.

The Dow has risen further and higher than anyone thought possible in March 2009.

LOL at your Michelle comment.

6. The point of the post wasn't about stocks at all... it was about Republican hypocrisy

Read the first sentence.

8. And so it continues ...
Whatever happens, the GOP will say it's bad for Obama. If it wasn't clear before the "The damage can't be undone" debacle, it certainly is now. The DOW goes down? It's Obama's fault. The DOW goes up? Obama has nothing to do with it.

In fact, by the end of the day, I'm sure they'll find some way to call it a negative that the DOW is up. I don't give him all the credit/blame regardless, but it's ridiculous to watch the Repubs twist themselves in knots to find a bad side to anything.

And I laughed when I saw they come out today, as the Dow flirts with 10,000, to say the economy is bad. Sure, the economy is still struggling. But to pick today to rip on the economy is just more lousy timing on their part. THE FUNDAMENTALS ARE STRONG! It's all good news for John McCain, right?

12. All you'll get is more stupid Obama bashing..
Dow 10,000 just isn't that big a deal, House Republican leader John Boehner said Wednesday morning. ... "At the end of the day, the American people aren't looking at the stock market in terms of putting food on the table," Boehner said. "They want jobs, and they want them now."

16. Fat chance of that happening.
To offer up the mea culpas would mean that they're intellectually honest.

I think we can safely say at this time that this is not the case.
