and whether THOSE people deserved their prizes.

And if they can't name them or offer an informed opinion about their fitness to the prize, you'll know exactly what time it is . . .

1. The only fair question is what is Obama going to do about Afghanistan, and why?
Let's not allow hubris to make us think we can succeed where so many empires failed before.

10. As far as the Nobel Peace Prize goes, what is Obama going to say
in December when he gives his speech?

The only real issue is what is he going to do in Afghanistan, particularly after putting peace off the table?

6. Um,
did you read what Hillary had to say about that today? If so then you'd know what he's doing right now and according to her, it's the right thing to do and that's get every bit of information he can get and all the input he can get to formulate a new plan.

She thinks it's the right thing to do, many others think it's the right thing to do. But alas, some here think he needs to make the decision yesterday without having all the information possible.

9. Many thought that going into Iraq was the right thing to do
Remember Bush and Gephardt at Rose Garden October 2, 2002?

And many also thought that escalating our involvement in Vietnam was the right thing to do.

23. Afghans have ruled their country only 100 years of the last 2300. Empires do quite well there.

"Where empires go to die" is not history. It's a poem. It's by a poet. One who apparently knows nada about history.

Furthermore, we are not planning to rule Afghanistan. If you believe that we are making such plans, then you should get a screwdriver.

given the Prize and if that doesn't help then I'll have at least informed them.

11. The Nobel prize winners in other categories don't seem to be
making as much news, so probably not.

12. I think he earned it, and I can name medicine, chemistry, and economics winners.
The people who are against it?

I wouldn't trust them to recite the alphabet.

13. I am tired of all the Nobel fuzz. It doesn't matter if Obama gets the Lenin Peace Prize
He is going to be savaged by the rightwing no matter what.

When it comes to Afghanistan, he will be attacked by both sides if he continues with the war, the rightwing saying that he isn't doing enough, and the peace advocates because he got us deeper into Bush's quagmire.

Nice try.

19. good point, it shows how shallow the media is
That they don't report on it or care about it really. And neither does the average American.

http://nobelprize.org/nobel_prizes/medicine/laureates/2009/

And all three of the medical winners are in the USA. USA! USA! Why are they not trumpeting our medical greatness?

and offers an informed opinion on why they deserved their prize? In that case, your response would be...?

24. Admission of American wrongs in the Cairo speech.

- Efforts to normalize relations with Iran.
- Getting the missiles out of eastern Europe.
- Walking us back from the brink of a second Cold War.
- Decreasing the world's nuclear arsenals.
- And being the first American president in history to side with the elected gov't instead of the Rightist military coup in a Latin American country.

Actually, no, I would not say those things. Because the jackass shitting all over our Nobel Prize is probably a Rightist who views all the above as "treason". So what I will actually say is, "Obama didn't ask for the prize."
