Senate Finance Committee (Dems) Slams AHIP Report
Senate Finance Committee Slams AHIP Report

The spokesman for the Democratic majority on the Senate Finance Committee pulled no punches in his response to a new health insurance lobby study that's critical of the reform bill drawn up by the committee.

<...>

Scott Mulhauser, a spokesman for Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee:

"This report is untrue, disingenuous and bought and paid for by the same health insurance companies that have been gouging too many consumers for too long as they stand in the way of reform yet again. Now that health care reform grows ever closer, these health insurers are breaking out the same, tired playbook of deception to prevent millions of Americans from getting the affordable, accessible care they need. This report is pitching some seriously flawed analysis that nobody's buying as it excludes all the provisions that will actually lower the cost of coverage - tax credits, grandfathering for existing policies, increased enrollment in private coverage and administrative savings from a more efficient mechanism for purchasing coverage. It's a health insurance company hatchet job, plain and simple."

Thanks Dems for sticking to this. They lie, they lie, they lie just to push their agenda. It is a hatchet job....Dems be strong, the American people got your back.

Edited for spelling.

5. I don't support the finance comm. bill as it is
The point of this last minute salvo by the insurance industry is that it proves that, despite all these compromises that were supposedly made to please them, the insurance companies are still fighting even the lame-ass bill their butt boys and girls came up with.

So screw them all - corporations and Republicans. Medicare for everyone - no trigger, no waiting - right now. Do what Ted Kennedy wanted to do. Medicare on a sliding scale available as a public option. Not hard to understand. Simple as pie.

I hope this latest insult will make all Democrats, even those who have been playing pat-a-cake with the health industry, stand up together and say, "Enough!!" How many times do they have to get sand kicked in their collective face before they actually fight back for us?

6. Nope, however it will be one of the bills combined.
And I'd sooner support an effort that supports health care reform, versus one that is publicly sent out to destroy ANY legislation, even if I find certain parts of Baucus' bill problematic.

7. 1993 redux
The useless shitstain intermediaries that kill and bankrupt us for profit write a bill for Baucus and then attack it. That is exactly what the Jackson Hole crowd did in 1993--wrote Clinton's legislation, and then left her twisting in the wind when the wingers attacked it.
