Limbaugh is 100% in it for the money! Nothing else! From his Today interview......
Maybe I am a little gullible, but I don't think Maddow, Matthews, Michael Moore or Olbermann's main goal is money. I think they are glad they make a living from doing it but they care about this country they love! They want to make it better.
I honestly think the average Dem cares more about the normal american than any GOP leader does. And after reading Limbaugh's quote below his listeners don;t realize how he is just stringing them along. They are fools if they think Limbaugh gives a crap about them or even believes what he says. What a joke!

From the interview.........

Limbaugh makes no bones about doing his radio show for the love of money, not necessarily for the love of politics or the spirit of debate.

”My audience, my ratings,” Limbaugh replied when asked by Gangel who he does his show for. “For ratings, I will admit it.

“Let me shock the world right here on NBC. I am doing my show for ratings. I want the largest audience I can get because that’s how I can charge the highest advertising rates. Which means what else do I want? Money.”

3. Who'll get his money when he goes to his rewards?
He has no wife and no kids.

He's also not a giving person, so I don't see that money going to any charities.

7. He divorced his wife? The one who made the cool neckties?
Or did she divorce him, tired of him taking credit for HER work?

6. That's about as shocking as touching a 2-watt lightbulb that burnt out years ago.
BTW: Michael Moore has all but come out saying the same thing. Given Michael's antics, egging people to revolt (while he goes to the bank and laughs, no doubt), and his own toddler-ific rant "If people don't revolt I'll stop making movies", and so on, I'd say Rush is the bigger more honest person. I'm still debating if I should feel regret, but anybody denying Moore is doing it for more than money may as well do as Moore says and start a "revolution", forgive me as I spend the next 5 minutes laughing my ass off.

There, I've regained composure.

Nice to see there are many who see the truth: Moore and Limbaugh are two peas in a pod. Even if one is colored red and the other is blue, the pod is no different. Two sides. Same coin. Sorry for the tangent, but when it comes to the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, the people who you mentioned do have target markets and will use philosophies as described in "the relationship era" to maintain an income. Hell, if it doesn't get any clearer, both Moore and Limbaugh address their audiences as "my friends", et al, should damn well prove it by now.

12. Well yeah, but...
I still see one gargantuan difference - Moore's work is by and large truthful. IMHO making truckloads of money telling the truth and speaking for the voiceless is not remotely as bad as making truckloads of money telling lies for the rich and powerful. In addition, I don't see Michael Moore's work contributing to the death of large numbers of people. Limbaugh has been a major cheerleader for the Iraq War, health insurance companies and tobacco companies just to name a few places Limbaugh's career has contributed to much death and suffering. No, I do not think the two men are remotely similar beyond their ability to make money.

and thank you for laying it all out. I find as I get older, I just get annoyed by posts like the above. I am very impatient, and don't even want to "waste my time" debating. Just as well. You did better than I could. I have not read the rest of the thread, but I'll wager with supreme confidence that that poster did not address your points in any way. Nor did he point out any lies by Moore, although the lies by the creep are legend.

9. It's almost all infotainment, my friend.
Ratings = advertisers

Advertisers = $$$$

People who maintain that it's about political ideology are kidding themselves. It's always about ratings, advertisers, and $$$.

13. Limbaugh is the conservative version of the "prosperity evangelist"
Prosperity evangelists are preachers who declare that God wants people to be rich, and by enriching them you're enriching yourself.

Take Jesse Duplantis, for example. He's currently building a 30K square foot mansion on River Road in Destrehan, Louisiana. HUGE place.

His kids are each in 10K+ square foot homes as well.

Limbaugh is no different. He knows how to push the buttons of poorly educated people who have bought into conservative dogma and "patriotism." And even though he has admitted for years upon years that he's doing what he does for money, people still listen because he is one of the most talented broadcasters ever.

15. no shit
And it works for him, too. Rush, Beck, Coulter and their ilk are shock jocks. Do people really think they believe the stupid ugly shit they say? It's a fuckin' job and they're well paid for it. The more outrageous and offensive they are the more their ratings go up because most of their audience tunes like them but because they despise them. If the people that can't stand them would stop tuning these nutball shock jocks would fade away into oblivion where they belong. But noooooo... the people who hate them have to hang onto their every word and enlighten everyone else about the latest shit that spills out of their mouths, which only serves to make them more popular.
