Anyone in here worried about the FBI's October Plan? I am!
FBI field offices and Homeland Security agencies will be advised of "extraordinary measures" that will go into place "beginning the first week of October through the elections."

An internal e-mail advisory to supervisory agents this week from the FBI's "'04 Threat Task Force" said the purpose of the counter-offensive is "to foster the impression that law enforcement is focused on individuals who may be a threat."

Specifically, the plan calls for "aggressive - even obvious - surveillance" techniques to be used on a short list of people suspected of being terrorist sympathizers, but who have not committed a crime. Other "persons of interest," including their family members, may also be brought in for questioning, one source said.

4. lol...I do anyways
I always have my camera with me...been taking damage photos of the hurricanes while doing my pc tech route each day (plus an occasional snap of a cute guy I see walking down the street now and then...lol), but Ill be on guard to cath any 'surveillance' as I have always felt that I am just a little too liberal for most people, especially this administration. lol.

3. It will be interesting to see
how many of these people are Democrats. They're already making Ted Kennedy take extra time in airports--do you suppose they'll start following him everywhere now?

I have a 50 mile commute into town, and if I see more than three cars, I'm surprised. So it will be easy to see if I am under surveillance.

6. Well, let's see ...

They're going to label people as "suspected" of being "sympathizers".

They're going to engage in "aggressive" and "obvious" surveillance (ie: intimidation).

They're going to harass family members of people they "suspect" of being "sympathizes".

Oh, and this is from the same regime that has repeatedly stated that "you are either with us or with the terrorists".

Add to that the fact that they only got into office by stealing the last election, and now there's another one breathing down their necks.

Nah, no potential for political abuse here ... just move along, nothing to see, all is well ...

There was a thread in LBN http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x835455 last night that died. There is one over on GD http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x2367673#2368691 that is barely sustaining life.

This is one of the most serious real threats to our real freedoms I think I've seen in quite a while. They have enough confidence that they have flat out told us that they are going to be abusing civil liberties left and right (well mainly left) for the entire month preceding our supposedly free elections.

I'm beyond worried. I'm scared, I'm pissed, I'm damn furious, :grr: :nuke:

And I'm terribly worried that so few DUers are responding to this issue. Are we all too freaked out to talk about it, or have we becomed numb to the outrages? Have we given up hope?
