3. What I took away was: We shouldn't just let the RICH live ...
while the poor are left to die if they can't afford
health care that can improve/lengthen their lives.
Maybe it wasn't "in your face" but I took it as a
call AGAINST the class warfare that exists in our
society, especially when it comes to health care.

2. we need to take down the insurance companies
3. we can do that by sponsoring free health clinics in Montana, Nevada, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

8. Health care is a basic human right. The debate is not about
money or politics or republican or democrat...it is about being allowed to live your life in a decent, dignified way in a country that can well afford it if we got our fucked up priorities right...the story about his Dad on the floor made me think about the dignity part of all of this.

23. So she thinks it was like Faux Noize but we should be more like ...
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 04:21 PM by LSparkle
the Repugs in our cheerleading regardless of the flaws
in the approach our reps may be taking? Are we supposed
to spout "happy talk" even as Baucus and co. hope to
sell us down the river???

What the hell is wrong with MSNBC becoming the liberal
version of Faux???? WE NEED A FRIGGIN' CABLE NETWORK
TO COUNTER WHAT THEY'RE DOING? Sorry, Randi, you and
your Clear Channel bosses aren't getting the job done
for us liberals -- we need a TV channel.

But when MSNBC (and KO in particular) decide to follow
the Repugs/Faux playbook, she claims it's "too much like
Glenn Beck." The rap on libs is that we're too cerebral --
what KO tried to do last night was provoke an emotional,
MORAL OUTRAGE at what's about to be voted on in Congress.

I'm REALLY disappointed in Randi. She's way off on this ...
and yeah, if she and Howard weren't moved by KO last night
then then I do think they are a couple of cold fish.

22. I heard part of Randi and she didn't say he was wrong
She said he was preaching to the choir and sounded like a pedantic liberal Glenn Beck. I enjoyed Keith last night but I can see her point. And yes, I also think she's jealous of him so it clouds her judgment.

14. When you get down to basics, health care is about life versus death.
The right to life (which can be maintained by health care) is the most basic human right, and thus should be protected by government as zealously as any other right.

17. What I got out of it was how little this country values human life
and the real death panels are those run by corporations. There was a lot of other very valid observations but my short term memory loss prevents me from mentioning them all.

The one thing I did remember that disappointed me a little, was his idea of running clinics in the states of the democratic panel members. I was hoping for something more in your face, like rallies and ad campaigns and nasty tricks that would help derail their careers. But, of course, clinics to help people get medical care is always helpful.

32. It may not be in your face
but free clinics in the states where blue dogs are kissing insurance co ass certainly is in their face. When a couple thousand show up for a free clinic in Nevada how is Reid going to ignore that and get re-elected?

38. I certainly hope you are right, but the cynical side of my is less optimistic..
Take someone like Bacus (a democrat , no less). He took over three million dollars from the medical industry and in return is fully prepared to sacrifice the lives and well-being of hundreds of thousands of his non-insured fellow citizens to repay these bribes. Do you really think the sight of people lining up for a free medical visit will worry him.

He does not need their money and is counting on the fact that there is no reliable opposition or that the poor and needy are less likely to vote. How sad is that.

30. I watched it and I understood him advocating for single payer centrally.
Edited on Thu Oct-08-09 06:18 PM by vaberella
However, besides his advocation of single payer he lays blame where blame is due. That our health is not a policy decision so much as it calls on basic human emotions of community and survival. For lives to have been auctioned out for so long in this nation is an abomination and for those who can't afford to "protect" themselves from the gamble that is life---we are basicall asking to die with utter disregard. What's more painful is that those who realized the gamble and could afford to protect themselves have found out they were not protected. Also, we see that care is not care but a profit maker. All in all it was a message of a lot of things but what he wants is the insurance company out of the relationship between the patient and their doctor. What the Republicans and so many of the manipulated populace don't realize---is, as they were screaming Gov. wants to come between you and your doctor---the health insurance companies have been between you, your doctor, and adequate health care.

As an aside on edit. I donated to the NAFC.
