Obama's No. 1 -- most foreign travel by first year president
WASHINGTON -- With his visit to Denmark to pitch Chicago as the site for the 2016 summer Olympics, President Barack Obama has now visited more countries in his first year in office than any other president did.

His one-day trek last week to Denmark -- which failed to convince the International Olympic Committee to award the games to his hometown -- made it the 16th country Obama has visited since taking office on Jan. 20.

That pushed him into the top spot as the country's top globetrotting leader in his freshman year, passing the previous record holders: George H.W. Bush, who hit 15 countries in the year after he took office in 1989, and Gerald Ford, who also jetted off to 15 nations after taking office midway through 1974.

Those two were just ahead of Richard Nixon, who in 1969 became the first real globetrotting president when he went to a then-unheard of 14 countries in his first 12 months.

2. Good, because he inherited the worst American reputation on
the international stage of any first year President.

4. National security was NOT well served by previous administration pissing everybody off
Yep, Obama has a lotta fences to mend. Important part of keeping US as safe as possible. And it helps our economy to rebuild relationships that might be productive instead of leaving the world totally out to get even with us for bush/cheney/rumsfeld/rice being such assholes.

3. And this is a BAD thing, why?

We became extremely disengaged with the rest of the world during the Bush years.

Obama has a lot of relationships to mend. Good for him.

6. He is the most beloved President ever around the World.
It's amazing how we went from most despised to most beloved in one election, isn't it?

"NEW YORK (Reuters Life!) – The United States is the most admired country globally thanks largely to the star power of President Barack Obama and his administration, according to a new poll.

It climbed from seventh place last year, ahead of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Japan which completed the top five nations in the Nation Brand Index (NBI).

"What's really remarkable is that in all my years studying national reputation, I have never seen any country experience such a dramatic change in its standing as we see for the United States for 2009," said Simon Anholt, the founder of NBI, which measured the global image of 50 countries each year.

He believes that during the previous administration of George W. Bush the United States suffered in the world ranking with its unpopular foreign policies but since Obama was elected, and despite the recent economic turmoil, the country's status has risen globally.

"There is no other explanation," Anholt said in an interview, referring to the impact of Obama."

Any other questions?

Or will you instead opt to quibble about the terminology the poster used?

7. Local Paper Edited This Article to Only Focus on Cost
they whittled this article down to the few paragraphs that dealt with the expense of using AFO.

Right-wing radio will no doubt make this their outrage of the day.
