Voters Back Obama Over Republicans on Health Care, Poll Finds
Bloomberg

http://news.yahoo.com/s/bloomberg/20091008/pl_bloomberg/aw2pami0gqru

Oct. 8 (Bloomberg) -- Months of Republican attacks on President Barack Obama’s health-care proposals appear to have hurt the party, according to a Quinnipiac University poll.

The survey found 64 percent of voters disapproving of the way Republicans in Congress are doing their jobs, with 25 percent approving. Also, 53 percent had an unfavorable opinion of the party in general, while 25 percent rated it favorably.

The performance of Democratic lawmakers was disapproved of by 56 percent, with 33 expressing approval. For the party in general, 46 percent expressed disapproval, 38 percent approval.

Asked who they trusted to do a better job on the health- care issue, 47 percent said Obama, 31 percent said the Republicans. The president’s overall approval rating was 50 percent, unchanged from a similar survey in late July and early August.

1. So I was at Starbucks yesterday...
... that's what us libs do ya know, pay $20 a pop for a cup of coffee with a funny name.

I ordered a light caramel Frappuchino .... and when I got to the window, the guy offered to give me the Frappuchino on the house if I'd buy some of their new instant coffee. I like instant coffee ... it's just like regular coffee only it's ready instantly. Genius!

I took him up on his offer, in part because it was a financially sound choice ... but primarily due to the commercials I've been seeing for the product .... one of which openly mocks the wingnut town hall "Obama is Hitler and he's gonna kill grandma" types!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-zj_NGJZyVU

The guy said he had never seen the commercials ... he didn't have a tv ... I told him I was in to politics (an understatement considering I read reading DU on my iphone while sitting in the drive through line) and that I was buying the product because of the commercial. I told him that one of them makes fun of "you know, all those people screaming at the town halls this summer."

He just looked at me with a blank stare .... he had NO idea what I was talking about .... hadn't seen the town hall coverage at all.

I thanked him and drove away and as I did he yelled out, "Nice Obama sticker!!!!"

(thank you for giving me a chance to share this story lol)

2. I think there are a lot more like him...
Sometimes we ridicule the low information voter, because they are not listening to the talking heads 24/7 etc.. basically because they are in school and working.

The great middle ground, so despised by the partisans on both sides of the aisle.. are the people who elect officials.

Great story

3. Yep, and they still like the President as a person....
.... that's what amazes me. In every poll I've seen that addresses the matter, and despite in falls in approval on various topics, his FAVOR ABILITY numbers, the question of whether voters simply like him as a PERSON, remains unchanged since last November.

(and plus we're all amped on sugar and caffeine .... throw in a few "fired up! ready to go!" speeches and there's not stopping us lol)

monitor the debate with facts.

7. 64% reject the Republicans!!!!
this is GREAT news. it helps to restore some of my belief in the American people. the town hall idiots have gotten all the press attention but Americans have rejected their hate campaign against health care and Obama - it would be so great if Republicans lost more seats in Congress over this.

If they did, I think it would go a long way toward healing this nation after decades of right wing hate campaigns against anything meant to improve the lives of middle class and working class Americans.

And you know what else is great about this?

The news media's corporate masters have lost by betting on idiots rather than the basic desire for decency in the American people. Beck is losing advertisers.

I can almost imagine a day when Beck is selling whizzinators on late night tv.
