Dr. Dean, please mention voting rights martyrs—and 2000 black voter purge
Seriously, I hope Dean starts to talk about this.
Clark is the only one talking long and loud about this disgrace.
Let's all write to Dean to urge him to talk about the GOP elephant
in the corner...

"January 5, 2004—In early 2003, when former Vermont Governor Howard Dean was a virtual unknown dark horse presidential candidate, he declared, "I want to go to the South and talk about race."
The ideal day for such a speech would be January 15, 2004, the 75th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., or the 19th, the official holiday.
...
At a recent news conference in Tampa, Jeb Bush stuck a knife in the still-open wound when he boldly announced that he "will deliver Florida to my brother" again in 2004.
...
The Bush campaign's biggest nightmare is that an audacious, plain-speaking Democratic presidential nominee will boldly and repeatedly declare what the docile media dares not mention—that the emperor has no legitimacy, that he owes his current good fortune to the deliberate suppression of the right to vote, especially that of African-Americans in his brother's state. The only thing that could prevent this crucial issue from being raised is an irrational fear of right-wing name-calling and bullying. Gore, Justice Ginsburg, and others responded to these same pressures in 2000 by retreating instead of standing up for justice. And look where it's gotten us.

The Dean campaign has shown that it values feedback from the public—especially via the Internet—to a degree that is truly unprecedented, as they demonstrated dramatically in 2003 by asking supporters to vote on whether the campaign should accept or forego federal funding. They would no doubt welcome your input (at www.deanforamerica.com, just click on "Contact Us" on the left side of the page, then type your message under "Email the Campaign") if you would like to see Dean invoke the sacred memories of the voting rights martyrs and emphasize how their sacrifices were mocked in the Florida voters' roll purge of 2000."

2. Well, DU forum members don't seem to care much about it.
Threads on black voter disenfranchisement always sink like a rock.

6. Dr. Dean routinely mentions this in his stump speech...
...And has been doing so for at least several months.

Next "issue"?
