Former aide to Kennedy, Sestak to run in PA-7
A political consultant who has worked for Congressman Joe Sestak and the late Senator Ted Kennedy is planning to announce her candidacy to run for the House seat being vacated by Sestak.

E. Teresa Touey, a Glenolden native who has lived in Massachusetts since the early 1990s, will return home to declare her candidacy for the 7th District on Monday. She is the first Democrat to signal that she will definitely run in next year’s primary against state Representative Bryan Lentz (D-Delaware). Touey helped Sestak unseat Republican Curt Weldon in 2006, and also worked for Congressman Bob Edgar, the last Democrat to hold the seat before Sestak. She said he is determined not to see the GOP recapture a seat they are heavily targeting.

“I just don’t want it going back to the Republicans,” she told pa2010.com in an interview.

Touey has also worked for Kennedy and Senator John Kerry from her consulting firm based in Natick, Ma. She said that after helping Democrats represent her home district in the past, she felt obligated to return.

“I feel real strongly that economic development is what needs to happen in Delaware county over the next decade,” Touey said. “Given my background in business and government relations, I think I can help there.”
