HEY! I just put in my 6th hour volunteering at Kerry HQ this week(Va.)!
This isn't meant to be a LOOK AT ME thing but to say

GET OUT THERE!
DO SOMETHING!

It doesn't hurt and the time flies by.

What will YOU tell the children when they ask?

Good responses to phone polling today (2 hours).
9-Bush
5-Kerry
3-undecided

That is in a very rural Republican stronghold of Virginia---Dixiecrats.

My wife pointed out that when you get a Bush response it is "....Bush" no enthusiasm but not really a *sigh* before hand. When you get a Kerry response it is like they can't wait for you to ASK THEM THE QUESTION THEY HAVE BEEN DYING TO YELL OUT! Quite a lot of enthusiasm. ;-)

GET OUT THERE!
DO SOMETHING!

WE ARE GOING TO WIN!!!

2. Spent 2 hours setting up a voter registration booth
at a grocery store in a dem neighborhood AND found a new, highly motivated volunteer who wants to work the local college campuses.

I feel pretty good today, myself.

3. I think I scared a Kerry supporter on the highway.
I was driving through Melbourne, Florida and I was getting sick at the number of Bush/Cheney bumper stickers I saw on the highway. But on closer inspection, I noticed one of them said, "Bush Cheated" I was so excited that when my husband drove by, I waved wildly at the driver, but forgot to smile broadly to show my support. My husband asked me if I knew him, I said, Yeah, we're voting for the same guy. A few miles later my husband said, I think you scared the guy. He dropped out of sight.

5. I am in Louisville and this morning 25 of us drove to Cincy and
canvassed for the Dems. One idiot said he was for Bush because of religion. I made the mistake of asking him why Bush would go to Iraq and kill innocent people. He continued that God sent him for the rapture. I told him that he should read the part of the Bible which tells of Jesus' teachings. He went berserk. Next door the guy was a gun nut; he walked th e entire block with me to explain why assault weapons were good. When I finished the block. a policeman showed up (called by the first man) to check my credentials. He was very nice, especially after I told him about the rapture. I usually just go on without an argument, but recently I have been querying Bushies. I cannot believe that anyone is still planning to vote for him.

6. exactly!!! it's rather easy once you take the first step. everything
else just follows in line. and just because you volunteer doesn't mean you have to give up your life between now and nov. 2nd. just do what you can. every little bit counts. and you'll feel better for it.
