Who are the candidates for the 2012 Democratic National Convention?
Edited on Mon Sep-21-09 11:52 AM by bluestateguy
I'd really like to see Detroit get it. For all of the city's problems, it remains a great convention city; hotel staff are all unionized too (always a must for a Democratic convention) and would be a nice economic jolt for the city.

Other cities that I think would be good would be Miami, Orlando, Milwaukee or Cleveland.

Or maybe a Texas city: Austin, San Antonio, Dallas or Houston. As a show of force, that we are ready to fight for Texas in '12.

1. Charlotte

Emphasis on the Carolinas and Virginia.... in which we took 2 of 3 in '08 and want to do the same again.

3. I think Texas would be a good spot
Even if it's not in play in 2012, I think it will be soon.

4. If Axelrod and Plouffe have anything to do with it, it'll be in a swing state
Just like Denver. I highly doubt they'll waste such a great setting in blue state. It will be in a state like Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, Arizona, or Florida.

6. St. Louis or Kansas City would be EXCELLENT choices... Phoenix would be interesting
McCain VERY narrowly won Missouri in '08.

And if McCain wasn't from Arizona, I think Obama would've won there.

7. What about New Orleans?
Take the battle to where it's really needed.

And let's have a massive Nawlins voter-registration drive, too.

9. Louisiana is a lost cause
No amount of registering will help that state turn blue. That state has gone completely red and wacko since Katrina.

8. AUSTIN!!!!!
If not Detroit, the please let it be Austin. We work so damn hard down here and it would be great to show Democrats from all over the country a different side of TX.

12. St. Louis or Charlotte
Obama lost MO by a whisker in 2008. It would be really nice to take it this time around.

Charlotte would also be a good choice. It would be a major coup to move a red state into the tossup category.

13. Either would be an excellent choice
St. Louis might get an edge only because it'll have a better ability to cater to the thousands of delegates and visitors.
