The "far" right has gone so far off the deep end..that they have become a threat to the country
I am serious about this. I hope the government is tracking the far right, including the talking heads of Limbaugh and Beck, and Savage.. because they are not opposition people, but they are cheer leading and promoting a violent reaction in the country.

We all know this only plays to a very small percentage.. and it is shrinking. But they are so out of control.. they are out of the shadows and showing their guns, shouting at the President when speaking at the well of congress.

They are on the edge of promoting domestic terrorism.

We have been here before, with the militias and Timothy McVeigh.

only 10% of WW2 Germany belonged to the Nazi Party.. They rest followed along out of fear of that 10%

15. ...And you have another 15 or 20% like the persons I served with
who will NOT let that happen, even under the immediate threat of death.

As a young man I took an oath to protect this country from enemies foreign and domestic.

Somewhere deep in the cavern of cynicism where I dwell, I am still that young man.

****

Law enforcement should take care of the worst of them. The rest are racist bullies and cowards, and will fade back into the woodwork.

If they really DO try to take over forcibly, they will have to deal with men and women like the ones I served with.

That will be a very, very long day for them.

22. My father is retired military. He said that he would pack up and fight if that happened.
Bless his heart, he's 62, overweight and diabetic.
But he still swears that if it came down to it, that oath he took still stands.
On the bright side, I guess his age, weight and health problem would put him on equal footing with the average 9-12er.

10. What can any of us do about it besides continuously talk about it.
We can always take to the streets but as racial tensions mount, I'd be worried there would be physical violence.

This whole racial thing has become a hot potato that no civil rights leader (or anyone from our government) wants to touch. Why?

17. And all black leaders such as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have become laughing stocks to the
right wingers.
Any time any race related ANYTHING happens, the right use Jackson and Sharpton prove that:

1. Americans aren't racist.
2. Well, except for black Americans. They are the ones being racist.
3. Black people always think white people are racist because of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.

Think about it.
Reverend Wright? Branded a buffoon and a racist.
President Obama? According to Beck, Limbaugh and many others, he's racist. He hates white people.
Colin Powell? Racist who only supported Obama because of race.
Van Jones? He's a commie who hates America.
So, who is there?
I'm not saying that a civil rights leader must be black to be effective.
Its just amazing that I can't really think of any recently emerging black leader who hasn't been pretty much destroyed in the eyes of the right.
Can you?

18. No and I'm in a scarier place because of it. What will it take for SOME body to make a stand
against the racism that isn't racism?

GOP does a fabulous job of destroying reputations, of finding the weak spots of human beings and shining the biggest spotlight possible on them. No one is flawless and the GOP effortlessly repeats these flaws completely overlooking the good intentions of the person.

Will blacks be afraid to walk down a street, go to a restaurant or shop at a store? These crazy throwback, bigots want their Amerika back. Brown people are taking it away from them.

Gun and ammo sales are through the roof.

A female (a servicewoman at that) getting kicked in the head and beaten in front of her child for simply saying something to an aggressive, mouthbreathing loser who feels really angry at the current state of affairs and takes it out on the fist darkie that looks at him sideways.

They are getting bolder and it's scary.

20. I started a thread yesterday about this racism that isn't racism. If you didn't see it, sit down,
take a deep breath and let me know what you think.
Mainly, what you think about the link to Glenn Beck's rant about ACORN.

25. Then, honey- don't read it or watch those videos.
Just know that this stuff is being watched and documented.
We've got modern technology on our side.

Seriously, imagine the Civil Rights movement taking place in the era of the internet and youtube!
Imagine that all of the private ugliness and lies made immediately available for all to see.
Back then, people only knew a small part of what was going on at rallies.
Also, imagine all of the beautiful speeches of that era being available to listen to, over and over again, as soon as they had been delivered.
Got a friend at work who didn't hear Obama's speech about race?
Push a few buttons, burn it to a CD and print a copy of text.

Unfortunately, we have the crappy task of watching and reading this bull and getting all worked up.
But I really believe that our country is in one of those rare moments of great change.
Some people are being assholes about it, but they'll just be swept out of the way because there is nothing they can do to stop it.

19. True. I feel something has changed. So do my parents.
We are white, but my father is a pastor at a small church that breaks about 70% black and 30% white.
He says that his black members have started expressing a lot of fears.
He is trying to encourage two men to pursue legal assistance because of a threatening situation at their job site.
This particular case involves racist, doctored Obama pictures being posted in their lunch room and later, when that failed to get a response, they were left on their lockers.
The economy is really bad, so these guys are scared.
Even worse, they have both worked there for over ten years and thought everything was cool.
They've been working together in peace all this time.
Suddenly, it seems that people who are angry at Obama are taking it out on the only black people they interact with.

Anyway, that's going on in Houston, TX which was never doing all that well as far as race relations.

21. There's a little Houston in many places EmilyAnne....
The economy definitely has alot to do with it and seems if you have a job, then there's a chance you'll have to put up with some really nasty things just to keep a paycheck. I feel bad for those 2 guys and wish them well.

I have a feeling it won't just be blacks, in many places (here for one) it will be the Mexicans catching heck too. Here they are building hundreds of new homes and apartment buildings because of BRAC (Fort Bragg incoming) and these crews are 100% Mexican. I figure it's just a matter of time before I hear "They're taking our jobs" war cry around here and bad things start to happen.

M$M, particularly Fox News and the filth playing on talk radio will empower these people to get rid of the problem.

Fox News, Limbaugh, etc. are HUGE here.

Maybe I read too much into it.
