White House launches Apps.gov
Edited on Tue Sep-15-09 11:40 AM by ProSense
Streaming at 1:00: In the Cloud

Today, I am excited to announce that we have launched Apps.gov to help continue the President’s initiative to lower the cost of government operations while driving innovation within government. I'll be discussing this in a speech at the NASA Ames Research Center at 1:00 EDT - watch the speech live here:

What is the Federal Cloud Computing Initiative?

Cloud computing plays a key role in the President’s initiative to modernize Information Technology (IT) by identifying enterprise -wide common services and solutions and adopting a new cloud-computing business model. The Federal CIO Council under the guidance of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and the Federal Chief Information Officer (CIO), Vivek Kundra, established the Cloud Computing Initiative to fulfill the President’s objectives for cloud computing.

7. Primarily c#/sql...
Sometimes c++ (if I need a maths routine that runs a lot). Sometimes prettymuch-Java (got me a google developer's phone awhile back). Occasionally f#, just because.

6. This is not for commercial use, it's streamlining government operations,
including purchasing.

10. Yeah, sorry, I saw that after I had another cup of coffee..
:banghead: It does seem to be that way although it would be nice if they'd open up something comparable for the American people.
