Last night, Obama drank their milkshake
We're gonna have a public option. It will be illegal to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions. Every American who needs dependable health insurance will get it regardless of financial status.

I am so proud of President Barack Hussein Obama today. He's taking the debate back from the clutches of Big Insurance and their minions in the Republican Party. He's transforming them from the Party of No into the Party of D'oh!

Just stay the course, Prez. Don't let the bastards drag you down. We're counting on you.

2. He must now follow through.
I still say NO PUBLIC OPTION...NO BILL. I am, however, more hopeful that this will happen than I was yesterday.

3. Recommended. All the Pukes could muster last night was Joe Wilson's
puerile outburst. Most 6-year olds behave better than Wilson did last night.

The apology was awfully swift this time. His website is overloaded and shut down. I imagine that things are bit tense and chaotic in his DC office this morning and I'm glad I don't work for the guy and have to pick up those phones.

South Carolina Republicans are having a pretty bad summer generally, actually. Which is fine with me.

5. Maybe Wilson should hike a REAL Appalachian Trail...
...and leave the rest of America alone. That would be nice.

7. LOL. A real, long, arduous, peril-laden trail. Yes indeed.
And the sooner the better.

6. Thank you. I thought I accidentally went to FR

from the posts I was reading.

"We're gonna have a public option. It will be illegal to deny coverage due to pre-existing conditions. Every American who needs dependable health insurance will get it regardless of financial status."

Indeed.

Thank you Mr. President.

10. The public option won't be available to those us us with expensive,
job-provided benefits. We're going to get clobbered.

11. There appears to be a simple remedy for that
If your job-provided insurance starts screwing you over, ditch it and sign up for the public option.

If coverage is going to be compulsory, the last thing the public option can afford to do is turn you down.

14. I heard that the PO wwon't be available to those with employer-provided "insurance"
regardless of how expensive it is. It the PO were available to all, the private insurers would be out of business within 2 years.

15. That's of course correct
As usual, people aren't paying attention to the actual policies- but are instead fawning over Obama.

16. Dude...
You've been on DU long enough to know that I've been critical of Obama's performance so far.

Let me praise the guy for doing something right in terms of seizing the parameters of the debate away from those who prefer stagnation and the status quo. If Obama starts to waffle, you know I won't stay quiet about it.

Does that sound fair? :hi:

21. As it stands now, you'll be STUCK w/ your employer's crappyass plan, no matter how much it sucks.

The "public option" will only be available to a teeny-tiny number of people.
