Joe Wilson should be censured.
Edited on Thu Sep-10-09 12:45 AM by TheDonkey
I hope there is pressure on Pelosi and House Democrats to censure that asshole. What he did to the President during a live speech to the nation and Congress was outrageous. This is not Hannity & Colmes. You should not be allowed to spew lies from the peanut gallery like some coward.

I'd never seen anything as ridiculous. Ok yes I have when it comes to rethugs but this was BAD.

I know he has quickly come out with his tail between his legs but he should be made an example. Rethugs have gotten very bold just flat out lying about Obama's agenda. Well lying on Faux News is one thing, now they have stepped in to shout talking points during his speeches?! Enough. Pelosi, TIME TO ACT!

1. I agree
The other option is tell Republicans we get Van Jones back and if they don't like it to go fuck themselves.

2. He SHOULD be but probably won't be
because that would just focus more attention on him, rather than the health care bill itself, which is more important.

4. He's a little racist punk. To wit ...
Here's what Joe Wilson said when Strom Thurmond's African-American daughter was revealed:

http://www.uexpress.com/asiseeit/?uc_full_date=20031219

"...It is the feigned surprise that vexes me most -- the stunned silence, the equivocation, the angry denials that followed the revelation that Strom Thurmond had bedded a black maid and fathered a black child. South Carolina state Sen. John Courson, who huffed, "This is ludicrous," and U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson, who called the revelation "unseemly," have a distinct affection for dishonesty."

He's a racist, pure and simple. He was an aide to Strom Thurmond earlier in his career... Strom taught him well.

5. Mediocrity lowers everything to it's own level
It's a law of physics. It's also the reason things are so slow to change. Mediocre minds cannot grasp anything higher than their dim lit reality. Their eyes are forever cast down into the gutter and they think that because they aren't there that they are therefore superior.

6. Has anything like this happen before?
I know I can Google, but was just wondering if anyone knew off the top of their heads.

7. I don't know if an individual has ever interrupted...
a President's speech to Congress before.

I do recall plenty of times when the opposition party has loudly booed during State of the Union Speeches though. Both Democrats and Republicans.

9. Thanks for your response.
Yes, of course I've heard boos before, and I think that's ok. We cannot silence people. But Wilson's comment was much more disrespectful than a boo.
