That was the most disgusting thing I've ever witnessed and I hope to hell there are consequences he'll pay.

WASHINGTON -- The nastiness of August reached from the nation's town halls into the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday as President Barack Obama tried to move his health care plan forward.

South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson shouted "You lie!" after Obama had talked about illegal immigrants.

It wasn't the only interruption during Obama's speech to a joint session of Congress in the House of Representatives. Earlier, Republicans laughed when Obama acknowledged that there are still significant details to be worked out before a health overhaul can be passed.

Wilson's outburst caused Obama to pause briefly before he went on with his speech. Overhead in the visitors' gallery, first Lady Michelle Obama shook her head from side to side.

24. One way to close the door and shut these f'ers up is to explain how illegals are treated in ER...

If there's any valid argument these bozos have is that even if we don't have our health care coverage apply to illegal immigrants, we still bear higher costs for medicare that the insurance companies pay for and pass to us when hospitals have to treat illegal immigrants in emergency rooms the same way others are treated today without insurance, and the costs are passed on to us through higher health care costs and higher insurance premiums (whether it is government run or private insurance company run).

We already have this with the status quo, so it's not like we're introducing a *new* problem, but it is still perhaps being "neglected".

I've made suggestions here in the past and have written to a number of congress people to offer hospitals a program where they can make claims for caring for illegal immigrants that is NOT funded by American taxpayers, etc. but is funded instead by the collected fines for those employers prosecuted for hiring illegal immigrants. It focuses the bill on them (which it SHOULD be), partly to make them pay a bigger price for abusing our system by hiring illegals, and partly because other employers already bear this burden anyway. I would suggest that it would also help step up enforcement of prosecutions of illegal employers, since if only a few are prosecuted, they won't want to be singled out for the costs of all of the others that also hire illegals and don't have to pay stepped up fines (that could be adjusted to ensure that this program is adequately funded).

If Obama were to have made a point that this sort of program would be proposed, there would be absolutely NO excuse for the behavior of Rethuglican congress critter Wilson, which would only be explained as partisan racist BS that it is!
