George H.W. Bush-"Write me a letter about ways you can help us achieve our goals..."
Edited on Mon Sep-07-09 06:43 PM by jenmito
He said that DIRECTLY to students-it wasn't on a worksheet that teachers could decide whether or not to give out. He directly circumvented the parents AND teachers and tried to brainwash students with his administration's RW/Marxist/Communist agenda, indoctrinating them like Kim Jung Il! And there was no outrage from any parents or media. Only a few Congressmen complained that he was using taxpayers' money for political purposes. What's up with THAT?!

11. While we're on shrub, he told students to send a dollar to kids in Afghanistan...
talk about pushing one's agenda. What if parents didn't want their kids hearing about the war and how to help?

18. They did so after the speech.
Unlike the Obama speech, in 1991 most of the controversy came after, not before, the president's school appearance. The day after Bush spoke, the Washington Post published a front-page story suggesting the speech was carefully staged for the president's political benefit.

This would have been in the run-up to the 1992 presidential election.

the Dems. complained AFTER the speech to the kids and it was basically about using taxpayers' money-not "indoctrinating our children" and "brainwashing them with socialist propaganda." There was nobody telling parents to be frightened and to demand their schools don't show it.
