Idaho Republican says he was joking about Obama hunting tags
An Idaho Republican gubernatorial hopeful insists he was only joking when he said he'd buy a license to hunt President Barack Obama. Rex Rammell, slated to run against incumbent C.L. "Butch" Otter in the May 2010 GOP primary, made the comment at a Republican rally Tuesday in Twin Falls where talk turned to the state's planned wolf hunt, for which hunters must purchase an $11.50 wolf tag.

When an audience member shouted about "Obama tags," Rammell responded, "The Obama tags? We'd buy some of those." Rammell told The Associated Press Thursday he was just being sarcastic and sees no reason to apologize. One person sent him an e-mail indicating he would ask the FBI for investigation, Rammell said.

Threatening the president can be a felony punishable by five years in prison and a $250,000 fine. Rammell says, "I'm probably safe. I'm not the one that started the whole thing....

6. Actually, arresting him, throwing his ass in jail with no bail set,
and trying him for the crime of threatening the President should be the way to go here.

Something has got to put a stop to this crap.

The repukes are always saying how strict punishment and law enforcement are deterrents to crime. Let's hope they are right.

16. Secret Service should treat him like this guy
WNCT-TV
Published: February 26, 2009

UNDATED—United States Attorney George E.B. Holding announced that on February 25, 2009, a Federal Grand Jury returned a single count indictment charging Kody Ray Brittingham, 20, of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, with threatening the President-Elect of the United States, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 871, which has a maximum penalty of 5 years imprisonment followed by up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000.

The Indictment charges that in November, 2008, Brittingham threatened the life of then-President-Elect Barack Obama. He stated, among other things, that he intended to shoot the President-Elect.

Mr. Holding stated: “We take all threats against the President and other high officials of the United States very seriously. The threat itself represents a disruption of the United States Government, even if no actual attempt is made to carry out the threat.“

An indictment contains allegations that a defendant has committed a crime. Every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in court.

Investigation of the case was conducted by the United States Secret Service. Assistant United States Attorney John Bowler served as prosecutor for the government.

Otherwise, he might falsely confess to a non-existent assassination plot.

15. Bullies always say, "I was just joking."
The defend themselves when they are discovered beating a kid into the dirt by protesting, "We we're just fooling around."

Sometimes you just have to punch a bully in the nose.

17. An awful lot of jokes about...
killing, shooting, hurting, maiming, hunting the president and Democrats. Seems to happen all too often.

And no, it is not funny. Especially when it comes to joking about the President. If a high level Democrat ever made a joke about hurting, hunting, killing, shooting or maiming a Republican president...we'd NEVER hear the end of it.

It is the human condition to harbor violence and anger, but we usually try our best to keep it contained. They're not even bothering to contain it anymore. It's all on the surface and it's all coming out.

18. Rammell sorry if people misread 'Obama tags' remark
BOISE -- Rex Rammell, Republican candidate for Idaho governor, says his comments about "Obama tags" are not a big deal, but he apologizes if people think he wants the president assassinated.

The Twin Falls Times News reports that during during a discussion on wolves Tuesday night at a local Republican party event, an audience member shouted a question about "Obama tags."

-----

"I was just being sarcastic. That was just a joke," Rammell told the paper. "I would never support him being assassinated. "She kind of caught me off guard, to be honest with you."

But when CBS 2 talked with Rammell, he said the paper got his words wrong.
"The comment didn't come from me," Rammell said. "A woman asked about Obama tags and I just joked back..." that you'd buy some, we asked? -- "Yes. No, that we could sell some. They misquoted me."

The Times News, however, sticks by its Rammel quote.

Nobody we talked to found kidding about hunting tags for the president of the united states very humorous, and Rammell told CBS 2: "If people read into my comments I would want him assassinated then I apologize for that. That was not the intent of my comment."

http://www.2news.tv/news/local/55482562.html

Amazing how these comments go right over Repukes heads - like Grassley calling the guy who said he was a Right Wing Terrorist a Great American. IMHO the Repukes would actually secretly like to see something bad happen to Obama.

20. Typical horse shit 1/2 ass apology
i am sorry that you did not understand because you are too stupid to know that I was just kidding.

You buy a "tag" to permit you to kill a certain type of game.

A deer tag lets you harvest a deer (you need a license too)

A moose tag lets you kill a moose.

An Obama tag ...... :grr:

27. IOKIYAR
Jesse Helms got away with telling Clinton not to show up in North Carolina without a bodyguard, G. Gordon Liddy can give people pointers on how to take down federal agents, people can apparently haul weapons around at Presidential events now, others like Rammell can joke about "Obama tags". It's all just good clean fun! :eyes:

Now, if we Democrats were the ones making such comments about any given Republican, I'm sure that we would be afforded the same benefit of the doubt, right? :eyes: Ummmm...sure....yeah, whatever.

It's like they just can't help themselves anymore. All the years of discipline and controlled messages and now they're falling apart. I've never seen such widespread self-destruction before. And they accuse Democrats of being disorganized - they're deranged!
