6. Wait a minute...wants WHAT health care bill???
I'm having a hard time getting my brain around this. If she is in support of socialized medicine (read: medicine that insurance and pharma don't have their hands in), will the Repukes kick her out of the party?

Any more info on this?

13. Who cares what she actually said ... Play it over and over and CLAIM she appears to support it.
Let the GOP try to undo it.

They would do nothing less to one of our folks.

9. She has been progressive on some other health issues
She was for stem cell research. She went through a lot with old Ronnie's Alzheimer's. Maybe she realizes she was lucky that they had the money to be able to treat Ronnie all those years. She has shown some class when other Rethugs have not.

26. Taking care of sick relatives can change you.
I know it really affected my own personal outlook on health care, as well as going through breast cancer.

11. "Ronny would have wanted this bill to pass."
I would LOVE to hear her say that, then stand back and watch the heads explode...

:P

Plus, it would have a stronger chance of passing...

20. Well, we know 1948 Ronald Reagan was against it.....
Edited on Wed Aug-26-09 10:07 PM by Sebastian Doyle

but maybe a Ronald Reagan who survived an assassination attempt, a brain tumor, and slowly wasted away from Alzheimers might have a different opinion, if he was available for comment today?

Or not..... but if Nancy thinks so, I'm willing to run with it.

12. What a shame she did nothing when thousands were dying of AIDS
and her husband didn't even mention it for six years.

Those are two people I can't forgive. Sorry.

21. Didn't they differ on it?
For some reason, I'm remembering that Nancy Reagan urged her husband to do something about it very early on, but he ignored her advice.

Hrm, after a quick google, I find a reference from that Reagans biopic that caused controversy a few years ago. Maybe that's where I'm getting my impression.

Still, wonder if it's true.

She's making herself available as a tool for us (if she did say and mean this).

So we use her.

29. I agree with you, ruggerson... but let's take what we can get. If she helps us get a good
healthcare bill, let's accept her help.

The 80's were shameful, but I'm all about using all our resources to get what we can for the future.

28. If you're lucky, the trials of life make you compassionate. If not
they make you paranoid. Or Republican. I'll forgive her a lot (and there's a lot to forgive, but hey, we all need forgiveness) if she'll help us.
