Please excuse me while I vent my spleen (note to mods, this is not a bodily function thread)
It amazes me sometimes the degree of nitpicking that we, as Democrats subject our Presidents to. I consider the Obama Administration to be a case in point. No, I'm not talking about health care Reform, or the wars, all of these are policies which I feel ought to be debated and discussed. I'm talking about the petty idiotic nonsense that we all feel we have the right to weigh in on, like where the Obamas got their dog, Michelle's various wardrobe choices, or where they choose to go on vacation. No, Martha's Vineyard would not be my first choice for a summer vacation, but I'm not Barack Obama, and you know what NO ONE ELSE HERE IS EITHER!

It amazes me how willing we are to criticize people because they choose to live their life in a manner that we do not. So the President decided that spending a week on an island off the coast of Massachusetts was preferable to spending it at Camp David, the Jersey Shore or a Faux ranch in Texas, why exactly should we care? Why is this an issue? It reminds me of a caller on Randi Rhodes' show one day who had a fit about one of Randi's friends in the business because he was a conservative. Randi, In her typically gentle and calm way :sarcasm: pointed out to the caller that she was not allowed to pick Ms. Rhodes friends for her. In the same sense, we do not have the right to decide the minutiae of the Obamas' lives for us. Yes, President Obama is our employee, but just like my employer does not get a say in the type of drapes that my wife chooses to put up, we don't get a say about where he goes on vacation.

End of rant  We now return to your regularly scheduled GD-P programming, carry on.

1. Agreed
Even if he picked a Holiday Inn Express in Hoboken it wouldn't be enough anyway for some folks.

I'll debate doctrine and policies and potential legislation, but what Michelle wears or where they go on vacation is really their thing, not mine.

2. I wouldn't wish a Holiday Inn Express in Hoboken on Dubya, either.

3. At least there are good waves there
In CT, we get nothing because of Long Island Sound. No wave surfing for us. :(

It's their vacation, and they can jolly well go where they please!
