Kerry & the Debates.
If W wears an earpiece to a debate, Kerry should wear one too, and on the first question take it off and say something like "some of my advisors wanted me to wear this because W uses one, I don't think I need one" or something along those lines to note that W has one.

1. Are we certain that Shrub's earpiece will be detected?

He needs to be strip searched, IMO. Earpieces and the battery paks have gotten so sophisticated that they are virtually invisible.

:hi: are there pictures or are we assuming? If he had an earpiece, would he mispronounce abu giraffe prison 3 different ways in the same speech?

6. I don't have a link.
But I thought it was reported that W wears an earpiece during live interviews with the press.

9. He wore one on June 5 at a press conference

with Jacques Chirac and there was a problem with the audio. The problem was that the earpiece audio was BROADCAST. I couldn't believe my ears, but I saw it on MSNBC big as life. You could hear the voice on the earpiece and then Shrub's repetition of the words, not always precisely the same, but close. No way was it feedback. It was a riot!!! A few people on DU mentioned it in posts, but it happened just before the announcement of Reagan's death. That was the end of that, as they say.

11. I don't have any links and as I said,

the story never really got covered, but it was at an inpromptu little press conference in conjunction with the D-DAY ceremonies in France. There was no lectern for notes nor any teleprompters and both Chirac and Shrub had earpieces for translations of each other's remarks. So Shrub's earpiece was legit, but he was getting English language script fed to him during his speech. If you go on a search, you should be able to come up with something. I was really new to the web at the time. Other than the Reagan news coming on the heels of the press conference, the reporters on site couldn't hear the earpiece audio, only the viewers could hear the pick up. I thought at the time that it would be a huge story. Boy, was I ever wrong. For an entire week, we got nothing but round the clock Reagan and the earpiece story never came up again. Too bad.
