Survey explains the why Clark is a hot topic tonight.
So I log on to DU tonight and I'm thinking, "Wow! What's with all the Clark-bashing tonight?" It's been rising, but it's REALLY thick this evening. Then I find this:

Race Tightens in homestretch. http://www.surveyusa.com/2004_Elections/IA040108demcaucuses.pdf

No wonder, since just a month ago it was:
Dean Bandwagon picks up speed!
http://www.surveyusa.com/2003_Elections/IA031211demcaucuses.pdf

Dean went from a 19pt lead to a 7pt lead in just under a month.

Then this:
Dean and Clark tied in Tennessee
http://www.surveyusa.com/2004_Elections/TN040108demprimary.pdf

I know this is meant to be serious, but I couldn't help smiling at this "quote" on the survey page: "Dean's advantage is statistically insignificant."

Dean is slipping, Clark is rising, and that seems to answer my question. Cheerio, and flame away. Oh wait, I know... the poll isn't significant. Can you spare me that rebuttal, please?

44. OK I'll bite on that
Iowa is not representative of the Democroatic base as a whole. It seriously lacks diversity.

Iowas silly caucus system discourages much of the regular voting public from participation.

Iowa has put themselves so far in front of the other races that they have rendered themselves nearly irrelevant. This is especially true with a MAJOR (or shall we say General) candidate who has opted out.

In short, there will be a little buzz, kind of honeybee sized for Dean if he wins Iowa. But the upcoming hornets nest of activity of New Hampshire will drown it out very soon. If Dean wins Iowa the reaction will be, ho hum so what everybody expected that. Now if Gep wins Iowa that will be something different entirely. In an odd way I might even hope for a close scrape if I were a Dean supporter to discourage complacency and reenergize New Hampshire. But it's impossible for me to be objective. Still, there it is.

So in short, Iowa? Where the hell is Iowa?

50. "Iowa lacks diversity?" Get real.S. Carolina..now there's a diverse state
Your candidate is basing his campaign on ignoring Iowa, losing in New Hampshire...then winning the state in Dixie where Strom Thurmond reigned supreme for, what, 65 years?

You have either a lot of nerve or a lot of naivete.

They have to recycle old Clark stories - unlike Dean's case where we hear of new gaffes and republican-like situations he's been involved in almost daily now.

42. I didn't
make the assertion that Dean is the put-upon victim here in GD. You did.

A quick check shows that both candidates are getting hit hard.

In my view (YES, MY VIEW) the attacks on Clark are silly. Posting that "has he had a physical?" is serious? It's meant to put a nasty rumor out.

Posting (as you did) a poll about him voting for republicans? I think that's an old smear.

At least the posts against Dean tend to rely on information younger than 15 years old.

We all know Dean gets bashed a bunch. But the post was about why Clark is getting his fair share tonight. I simply stated I am of the opinion that the polls might have something to do with it. I never said, nor did Dookie, that Dean doesn't get bashed. But a poster implied Clark wasn't getting bashed. That's why I posted those links. Now, if you think he isn't getting bashed, then feel free to take me on. By the way... cutting and pasting... wasn't that fun? LOL
