Congressman Says He's Getting Death Threats

Rep. David Scott says he and President Obama are the targets of some hateful faxes that include death threats.
CQ's Greg Vadala reports that Scott, whose district office in Smyrna Ga., was defaced by a painted swastika, got an anonymous fax portraying Obama as the ghastly Joker character from the latest Batman film with a Soviet-era hammer and sickle added to his forehead. Underneath are the words "Marxism" and "Death to All Marxists."
That fax also addresses Scott and uses an "N" word.
The FBI and the Smyrna Police Department confirmed that they are looking into the swastika painting, which may have been caught on a surveillance camera from the Regions Bank in the same complex as Scott's district office.
"This is serious, serious business," Scott said. "What does a swastika, these depictions of the president, have in the health care debate? We cannot allow this hate and racism to clutter the debate on health care."
A lot of the heat has happened since a local television station aired a clip that showed Scott angrily accusing protestors of trying to "hijack" the meeting.
