The Constitution is not about giving the majority what it wants.
The Constitution is about protecting the rights of everyone regardless of what the majority demands.

The majority of the people are not necessarily the smartest bunch in the group. Thank goodness for the Constitution.

6. I would be pissed, of course, but who says...
that I am always right? Even if I am right, the oft disappointing part of democracy is that eveyone else has a voice, too. you win some and you lose some.

And if I wanted a representative to vote my way all the time, I would just have a robot in office.

5. Most of the Framers talked about the...
"tyranny of the majority" and that is precisely why we have the Senate to balance the House.

And the Presidential veto and an independant judiciary with lifetime tenure.

Our entire system of government was designed to give the little guy a voice.

(Of course, lots of ways of tricking the little guy out of his voice have been invented over the years...)

7. It's about both...
...but perhaps even more importantly, it restricts the behavior of our elected and appointed officials. In order that the majority can get what it wants without stepping all over minority rights.

8. Not listening to constiuents and voting against their interests
has put us in this mess.

Example: no matter how you count, the reality is the
Conservatives are a minority. IMO, I have lived under
the Tyranny of the Minority for a long long time.
In fact, it appears they rule now under Democrats.
