Obama Job Approval: Highest in D.C., Hawaii, VermontLowest rating in Wyoming
by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- From the time Barack Obama took office as president until the end of June, 63% of Americans, on average, approved of the job he was doing. The breakdown of his half-year approval ratings at the state level shows that Obama's approval rating was above 50% in all but two states, Wyoming and Alaska. His highest approval ratings were in the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Vermont, Maryland, and Massachusetts.

2. Thanks for posting! Heartening, indeed.
I bet a lot of the screaming Tbaggers, birthers and deathers have led to deafening of ears in the populace and more focus on what's coming out of the government. I knew that silly CNN poll that gave him a D in my state, California, was bogus

It a fair world that would translate to a very stong public option hopefully more sentors can recognize this and not be distracted by a vocal minority.

6. D.C. Hawaii and VT were where he did best in the election.
It's not surprising that folks in those places still strongly support him.

7. DC, HI, & VT = 10 electoral votes
Only 260 to go, LOL.....On the flip side: CA, NY, & IL = 107 electoral votes, :woohoo:

And I would think that the Sotomayor confirmation is going to further strengthen Obama's already large favorable numbers w/the Hispanic community, so states like NM, NV, & CO should stay blue in 2012...

I know it's a way off, but I fully expect Barack Obama to be a 2-term president...

Iniki came to Kaui'i on September 11, 1992..talk about fast bonding with the locals!

So glad I didn't wait in Denver until October to go like I had been thinking..I wouldn't have been able to. It took 5 years to rebuild..but it was all good.

My son learned to be a carpenter and I got a job as a Vegetarian cook in Hanapepe:9

It was amazing that there weren't more casulties for a Cat 5 Hurricane..that was some memories the couple had on the Kalahau Trail! I would like to hike it when I go back.

21. Wyoming is not a real state.
It was created in mid-2000 to get around Twelfth Amendment concerns that would have disqualified Texas resident Dick Cheney from the vice-presidency.

Look at the map--isn't it obvious that they just traced Colorado?

18. Yep. It's gotta hurt. Colorado, the fundie capital of the universe, is at
55%. We get all the nutjob kooks flocking to Colorado Springs to be close to their insane preachers, yet we're still where we were on election day. I'd say that's pretty damned good.

OK let me be clear I am not happy McCain/Palin won Mo. I'm happy with 62% approval for Obama considering McCain/Palin won with 3,900 votes.
So I'm glad I got that straight!!! Wow did I mess up.

Edited on Mon Aug-10-09 12:27 PM by Zomby Woof
It allows self-styled "liberals" a safe outlet for their own form of bigotry. Tolerance, acceptance of diversity - bah! Those values are for other liberals!

Now I see that bigotry being displaced to Wyoming. Hey, it's an empty state full of rubes and cowboys!

I think we should encourage the 46% in Wyoming that are our allies, and perhaps those numbers could grow. Or we could just keep dismissing them with arrogant ridicule and fake liberal hypocrisy.

I'll take that! Idaho is an ultraconservative deep red state. I'll bet we have the fewest number of elected democrats in almost any state in the union. If his approval is 50% here - he's golden!
