400 homes canvased in NH produces these results:
Southern NH is still more Republican than Democrat about 54% to 46%. The average voter in southern NH doesn't like Bush policies very much but they like his tough attitude - his resoluteness.

The average voter in southern NH doesn't like John Kerry very much either. They find him weak and wishy-washy (a term I heard over and over more than the infamous flip-flop).

The average voter in southern NH feels they know where bush stands (even if they don't agree with it) but feel increasingly frustrated by Kerry's lack of focus and message.

We have bush with a 6 point lead right now but it is not a solid 6 point lead at all.

I think the voters want Kerry to start fighting back and look strong. They don't want to vote for bush but feel Kerry is not giving them any reason to vote for him.

That is their words not mine.

Kerry still has time to turn this thing around - the public is not that strongly behind bush.

2. There are parts of every state that are solid for each party.
The question is where are most of the people in the entire state? For instance, in Pa. rural residents are mostly shrub supporters, but Phila and Pgh are Dems. Same in Ga. Atlanta is 98% Dem, but the rest of the state lean very hard right.

What is it like in NH?

3. Northern NH is solid Republican
That was taken into account with the 6 point lead - in southern NH it is split about 50/50

4. Kerry is getting better and not quite so nuanced
He does have that hanging around his neck. It was how he got re-elected so many times. A politician wants to be all things to all people and Kerry was/is no different. He has to learn and very soon that that can never happen. He must take a very strong stance and live or die with the consequences of his stance. That is what everyone seems to want. People don't want to be finessed. They want strong beliefs backed by action. Bush* seems to do just that and that is what is attractive about him. In reality he is constantly changing his mind and policies but because the Media doesn't broadcast it as such nobody notices.

6. Be Careful About Using New Hampshire as an Example
an amazing number of residents -- something like 30% -- used to live in Massachusetts. (I heard this during the primaries.) So Kerry has some characteristics of a favorite son.

7. Most Bush supporters are insulated & do not know critical facts
such as:

Army War College Report:
"Of particular concern has been the conflation of al-Qaeda and Saddam Hussein's Iraq as a single, undifferentiated terrorist threat. This was a strategic error of the first order because it
ignored critical differences between the two in character, threat level and susceptibility to U.S. deterrence and military action. The result has been an unnecessary preventive war of choice against a deterred Iraq that has created a new front in the Middle East for Islamic terrorism and diverted attention and resources away from securing the American homeland against further assault by an undeterrable al-Qaeda.” - Strategic Studies Institute of the Army War College

Aug. 6, 2001 PDB: Bin Laden Determined To Attack In The U.S.

This is why we must educate with flyers. None of these fcats lend themselves to TV ads. With PCs, printers and Kinkos WE BECOME THE MEDIA! This has huge potential from a grassroots perspective. If enough people do this it will not only influence the electorate it will create buzz which equals publicity.

Go to http://somnamblst.tripod.com to download high resolution TIF or PDF files for free to print and distribute. Now I gotta go hit that Ohio college campus for the 3rd day in a row.

11. not willful as much as wrong newspapers or too much TV news
How many people caught 8/6/01 PDB released the saturday before Easter?

A flyer revolution has huge potential, because we all have the ability to participate and the cost is negligible as it can be born by all.

Slackers I know from Carroll County area who would NEVER have voted before, have actually registered this time and are voting Kerry. The overtime thing pissed them off bigtime. At least 12 people I know of. Could be more.

12. Thank you for your efforts in getting out there.
When I see these things, that being that the Bush people (can't actually call them 'supporters'), I always wonder if there would be a real benefit in asking a few additional questions.

1) Where do you get the majority of your information for what is going on in the race (TV, cable TV, local newspaper, radio, internet, etc.)?

2) Do you listen to talk radio and if yes, who are the two commentators you listen to more than the others? (If Rush, Hannity that says a lot)

3) Do you ever verify the information given to you by the sources you get your information from? In other words, if the Bush Campaign/Rush Limbaugh/Fox News/other named source, tells you John Kerry's position in a speech, do you go and read John Kerry's speech to verify the interepretations? (I realize that probably doesn't happen, but maybe it could plant a seed for them to find the truth.)

13. Forgive my redundancy
I have posted this before and will no doubt post it again at some point later on:
I have lived in NH for all of my 46 years and have followed politics here since I was old enough to run away from Repukes. While the Democratic Party in this state is a shell, John Kerry will win NH. Period. Put it in the bank.
