Can he be any more condescending? :puke: I guess respect and manners go out the window when a Dem is in charge.

Grassley: Obama too inexperienced to understand how Congress works
@ 11:12 am by Michael O'Brien

President Obama is too inexperienced in national politics to really understand the legislative process, Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) said Wednesday.

Grassley, who as a lead negotiator of the bipartisan healthcare reform deal the president supports has dealt often with Obama, said that while he likes the president personally, Obama effectively only had two years of experience in national politics.

"I think that he is a good person, and good-intentioned," Grassley, the ranking member of the Senate Finance Committee, said in a radio interview. "But I believe he didn't serve in government long enough to understand really how things work."

"Remember, he was in the Senate four years, but effectively only two years because he spent two years where he was hardly ever here at all — he was campaigning for president," Grassley said. "He really does not have an understanding of how Congress operates."

Grassley said that while the president's numerous advisers may help him understand the process, Obama still has a "tough time."

Still, Grassley did save some praise for Obama's personal skills, though.

"You can't help but like the guy," the Iowa Republican said. "As he's talking to you, he looks you right in the eye, and you're the most important person in the world. He's not like a lot of politicians."

"He's very idealistic, and so when you're idealistic you want to put all those things into practice," Grassley added. "So I think he's maybe trying to do too much at one time."

:sarcasm:

Meanwhile, Grassley was too busy getting his lunches paid for by lobbyists, to actually do much of anything.

6. He doesn't mean how congress works.
He means how congress works for congressmen. Grassley is self-serving sleaze who doesn't want congress to work; that would mean more for the country and less for him.

19. But that "inexperienced" argument is code
for 'this uppity little you-know-what doesn't belong with the people who have EARNED their way here'.

That's what I believe lies at the heart of all these current claims of "inexperience".

He clearly led a masterful primary and general election campaign, defeating what were considered establishment, household-name candidates.

He may not have been in the Senate long, but it was long enough to get the lay of the land, and he was primed by his state senate stint.

Anyone making the "inexperience" claims is bitterly jealous that he got to POTUS on his first try out of the U.S. Senate. Some of those in Congress just wouldn't ever make it if they tried. It's a combination of talent, timing, skill, luck, and smarts.

12. I first met Charles
when he was my state rep in central iowa circa 1976. I was 10 years old and he came to my 5th grade class. Although a repub, I have respected his stance on Pentagon waste, and his stance on the gulf wars. When he is positioned to be a mouthpiece for the party, he always comes off as the biggest ass. I think he needs a letter from one of his long-lost constituents.
I will sadly say that he and Harkin should be put out to pasture. I live in VT now and am proud of my representation here.

Like Bush knew how congress and the Presidency works.

"I am mindful not only of preserving executive powers for myself, but for predecessors as well".

Or

"I'm hopeful. I know there is a lot of ambition in Washington, obviously. But I hope the ambitious realize that they are more likely to succeed with success as opposed to failure".

Or

"First, we would not accept a treaty that would not have been ratified, nor a treaty that I thought made sense for the country".

Yup Bush was a genius.

30. Oh, yes, Grass Ass
but Bush sure knew how the senate worked. All of his years of experience...er....well, that's why he hired Rove, who knew nothing of the Congress at all and in fact enraged congresspeople on both sides of the aisle with his arrogant thuggery and lack of manners and decency. It's too bad Bush couldn't get any of his promised legislation through, due to his incompetence, inexperience, and general challenges in the diplomacy department. Just think how y'all coulda fucked things up if he had had any sense at all!

Synthetic cowboys have never been known for their ability to pass legislation, though, so we weren't holding our breath.

It's really too bad for you, Grass Ass, because just think if your party had an ounce of ability to actually govern. We know you hate it -- and that's why y'all are so fucking bad at it -- but sometimes it helps to believe in government when you work in it. Just sayin'.

From my vantage point, all I can do is praise your god that you all are so god damned incompetent. I can't imagine the myriad of ways you guys could have fucked up the place, leaving it as you did -- littered with executive orders and illegally appointed DOJ lawyers and unanswered subpoenae. Oh, but why must I prattle on about the law, when we all know you aren't lawmakers! You're entertainers, just there for the healthcare and the pension.

Don't place any bets, Grass Ass, on how much legislation Obama gets passed, 'cuz it looks like you're going to be on the wrong side of that one.

That One, I mean.

and enable these sorts of jerks.

Grassley is- among other things, a serious embarrassment to Iowa. Has been for years.

The other guy he praised at his news conference- Mike Enzi tried to federally preempt every single state mandate with respect to health insurance coverage- and leave everyone with junk insurance.

About the only victory the Democrats ever had during Harry Reid's tenure was to block his legislation- and just barely. Most folks didn't realize just how close they came to thoroughly being fucked. All the work people have done for various causes for 20-30 years - diabetes, womens health, mental health, autism, psoriasis- you name it- would have, in one fell swoop been tossed right out the window.

But take my word for it- check out what these folks had to say:

Grassley is right. He's been a corporate whore for many years as well as a stooge for the American Taliban.

From where he stands on the corner looking to serve lobbyists' pleasures, all you need to be is a whore. And whores think that that's all you need to be.
