2010 is NOT 1994
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2009/08/03/2010_is_not_1994.html

"While history suggests Republicans will make significant gains in the 2010 House races -- as they did in 1994 when Bill Clinton was the new Democratic president -- there is a major difference between then and now.

First Read: "The 1992 election actually provided hints of the 1994 tsunami (redistricting, strength of anti-establishment Perot etc.; Republicans actually did well in 1992 House races and picked up senate seats). So 1992's results scared a number of Dems and led to a lot of retirements -- making 1994 even more difficult for their party... We're not seeing this same pattern for 2010 just yet. Democrats seem to have the ability to have insulated themselves from a 1994- or 1946-like result."

So there Rethugs, why don't you put that in your 2nd. Amendment pipe & smoke it...

3. That Bill Clinton fellow was pretty talented to
Not as disciplined but he had charisma and charm and most of the things he did helped this country.

5. Clinton had no discernible ideology, but Obama does.
That makes all the difference. You won't see Obama reaching out to the likes of Dick Morris.

15. Clinton got burned by the likes of Richard Shelby and Sam Nunn
on the DADT thing. He had his share of "blue dogs" before they were called that.

7. dems had been in control of the House for decades
Then, the GOP was the party of change.

Now they're still the party of Bush.

8. The economy is going to be better than people realize next year
I'm not sure if it will amount to large gains by the Dems (it's getting harder and harder to do that), but I don't foresee large losses at all. Voting against the stimulus package is going to be an albatross for the Republicans, not the blessing they envisioned.

9. Here's the Deal
Approval of Congress was at a all time low In 1994.Democrats have been In control of the House for 40 years and The Senate for 8 years.Bill Clinton had dropped to 35 approval In the summer of 1993.By Summer 1994 His approval had risen to 40 Percent.Barack
Obama Is at according to credable polls(Meaning non RAS) approval Is anywhere between 53 and 60 approval.

Every poll with credabilty doesn't have Republicans rising.Ignore the so called Generatic Ballets. For years Democrats won those
polls yet Republicans keep the House.

There are already signs the economy Is recovering. That can be the nail In Republicans Coffin.

Republicans may win some House seats but those will be Conservative Democrats In districts won by Mccain.Any republicans left In
Districts won by Obama will be In Trouble.

Republicans had scandals to bring down Clinton's numbers. The best they have against Obama Is the Birther contovrsy and most sane American reject that.

While many Senate polls might not look good now remember back to 2005,and 2007.If you would have said we would won 6 In 2006,and 8
In 2008 some would think you were delsional.Jim Webb,Al Franken,Jeff Meerkly, and Mark Begoich are prime examples of this.

10. K&R times 1000
I've been saying this for WEEKS. In 1994, Democrats had been in control since the 50s, and many were corrupt as hell (i.e., Dan Rostenkowski). There were also a HUGE number of Democratic retirements, particularly in the south where the voters were GOP in spirit, but still willing to vote for the old Dixiecrats with a "D" besides their name. Also, the country was more conservative 15 years ago. People have since learned what unregulated markets can lead to, and what happens when you shrink or eliminate the social safety net.

14. We've got a sizeable majority in the House, we can take a few hits
The big thing is maintaining our numbers in the Senate and the way the individual races are shaping up so far, it looks good.

16. People keep bitching about 1994 and now, but the Republican Party is drifting
to a degree now that it wasn't in 1992 or 1994.

Also they didn't have the birthers.
