Obama shuts down radio stations, nationlizes internet, car companies, banks, manufacturing
After many negative stories on faux news, rw radio, and the blogosphere President Obama took over the media while promoting freedom of speech.

"People can disagree with me, as long as I agree with how and when they do it." he said.

One popular site, Democratic Underground, was on the list of those to be shut down as they questioned government involvement in 9/11 as well as the president's decisions over the war, banking bailouts, health care reform, and the influence of powerful lobbies.

Efforts to call for change were met with rebuke by the government and were labeled as an attempt to overthrow the government "Those who do not agree with me and want change are obviously plants by the KGB." Obama was heard to say.

....

No, the above is not true at all of course, but replace Obama with Chavez and you can see why some of us on the left aren't going all ga-ga over him and his actions.

If bush had done what chavez has, what would we say? When do we stop praising a leader we like and start criticizing them?

6. Because he's anti-Bush.
A few years ago, there were a group of DUers who semi-supported Ahmadinejad.

Why?

Because he was anti-Bush!

5. Chavez is a dictator, pure and simple, as was Castro - just because they
claim to be leftist means very little - they are still undesirable.

10. Thanks
Thanks for starting this thread. Many of us are tired to death of the incessant threads of those DUer's seemingly enamored with Chavez who is little more than a cunning, vile thug who managed to exploit a disinterested Venezuelan public with a cheap populism and get himself "elected". Since then he has been crystal clear in his goal to not only mimic but eventually supplant Castro as the leader of the far left and Marxist groups in Latin America, and has devoted millions upon millions of dollars which belong to the Venezuelan people to destabilizing democratically elected governments in the region. In addition he has openly and financially supported the vicious FARC guerrillas in Colombia. The man is an abomination.
