Query: how much worse could Republicans have screamed- how much more off the deep end
Edited on Thu Jul-30-09 12:40 AM by depakid
could they have gone- if the administration and the Democratic majority had fought for and won major league reforms?

Would their hue and cry have been any different?

Will it be any different with all sorts of dysfunctional "compromises?"

(Not talking single payer here- just for the sake of discussion, let's go with Kerry's angle there)

1. They could've done physical harm to Dem Congress people
But that seems so highly unlikely that it's zilch.

2. Maybe we ought to ask the converse
If the majority Dems compromise on say, credit card reforms- or market regulations, etc., does anyone expect that we'll see less vitriol tossed our way- at any (or every) given opportunity?

If not, then it might be logical to wonder- why are we doing things like that- or allowing them to be done in our names with impunity?

3. It will be no different even with compromises. Their goal is to try
to make Democrats and especially Obama have failure.

4. I guess that begs another question
What's our goal then?

I'd kinda like to hope that it's to set policies in place that will slow or even reverse the decline and put Americans back on at least reasonably even footing with people in other successful western nations.
