So, a senior citizen is concerned about "government program"?
And Obama replied: well, Medicare IS a government program.

:banghead:

(as reported on CNN)

2. He's got to keep saying that
If he can just get the people who voted for him to step out of their fear-induced trance, they would realize that they're just waiting for the day they get their Medicare so they can stop worrying so much about health care. Once they get that through their head, the next question will be obvious, why not have it now.

4. I don't think that I could last more than a minute
Several weeks ago someone had a clip from one of them - don't remember - and I lasted only 5 minutes.

5. There's a woman
on a messageboard I frequent, that is forever going on and on about all government programs are bad. And of course recently her incoherent tirades are all about Democrats trying to force government healthcare on people.

The kicker - she's on disability, she's 56 years old, and hasn't worked in over 18 years (I'm not judging her for that, just stating a fact) she HAS "government healthcare", she survives off of those evil social saftey-net programs those "evil socialist Dems" fight to preserve.

It just kills me, and yes, makes me want to bang my head on a wall.

Of course, she's a huge Glenn Beck fan, and thinks that ACORN is trying to take over the country. So, there's that.

6. Is anyone pointing this to her, os is this a waste of breath?
And I am thinking of all the younger people whose retired parents can afford to live on their own thanks to, in part, to SS and Medicare. It used to be that our elderly - parents and aunts and uncles - would move in with us since they had no alternative.

8. It's been pointed out
but it is mostly a waste of breath. Somehow, when/if a liberal points that out to her, the other right-wingers jump in and declare it a personal attack, or they turn the entire conversation into an immigration debate. Which really is their number one reason for opposing public option.

11. I know people like that too
No foresight, no imagination. They excuse themselves, but cannot imagine that other people are just like them.

9. Right. Which let our parents and grandparents to live in their
homes and to support themselves - more or less - instead of moving in with us, the way it used to be.

12. Bwahahahahaha!!!!!

But seriously, if people don't want "government-run" Medicare, Social Security, etc., well, they can just refuse it, can't they (or give it to charity or something)?
