1. Dumbasses. Why not let the plane land where it was scheduled instead of
putting out all the other passengers and taking care of business there?
Utter incompetence and stupidity.

6. That explains it
"Last year he released two songs, including a re-recording of his '70s hit "Peace Train," to express his opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq (news - web sites)."

No wonder that he is on the terrorist list, he spoke out about the war.

3. And Cat Stevens is a national threat because ...?
The only negative thing I've ever heard about the Cat is that he seemed to reaffirm the fatwa against Salman Rushdie. But on "Behind the Music" years ago, he said he was misquoted.

So why is he a security problem?

10. also he gave the correct interpretation of 'fatwa' which doesn't
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 09:51 PM by the Kelly Gang
mean Rushdie has to die..he's been strident but always said peace must come first and he is devout..not a fundamentalist.

So now people are being denied entry for their religion !

thank God I'm a Methodist !

4. I remember when "10,000 maniacs" (natalie merchant) pulled
Edited on Tue Sep-21-04 09:39 PM by jonnyblitz
their cover of his song "Peace Train" from one of their albums/cd's (whatever it was in the 80's) because Cat Stevens aka Yusuf Islam supported the Fatwha against Salman Rushdie for writing Satanic Verses.

12. They have since...
Edited on Wed Sep-22-04 07:52 AM by sundog
put the song back on new issues of the album.

They also included it on their recent compilation of key songs.

Natalie Merchant has recently spoken out strongly against the war.

16. I have a personal Natalie Merchant story...
I was taking a class(Sun doh..like Korean Yoga) on Kauai where I lived and she was teamed up to be my partner in some of the asanas..I didn't know who she was at the time. Only later everyone was telling me that she was Natalie Merchant from "10,000 Maniacs"!

She was very unassuming and sweet and there on Kauai to get some rest and relaxation.

One of my claims to fame! :D

13. Cat allegedly once dropped some money in the hat for HAMAS....
and any enemy of our friend, Israel, is our enemy. HAMAS is linked in the American mind with terrorism. It was founded in 1987 by the quadriplegic Sheikh Ahmed Yassin who was assassinated last year by the Israeli government. HAMAS initially became popular for its stance against the political corruption and cronyism for which Arafat's PLO was known and for its work in building a network of community institutions, including schools, hospitals, orphanages and civic centers. HAMAS has called for the elimination of the state of Israel, to be replaced by an Islamic-led state in historical Palestine, but which would welcome Jews and Christians as "people of the book" with rights of protection under the rule of an Islamic Palestine....in other words replacing the current theocracy of Israel with a democracy.

15. That's a Cosmic sign of their international
incompetence. I just saw Cat Stevens' picture on my roadrunner headline.."Plane is turned around" because Cat Stevens was on it..how ironic..One of the most Peaceful People on this Earth is on the stupid bush watch list.

Like Kerry said in his speech at New York University..no one is held accountable for all the mistakes on Iraq..the only ones who were fired are the ones who made accurate predictions of what would happen!

25. Phew! Thank goodness Homeland Security is protecting us from the
terror of Cat Stevens.

After all, only a sick, twisted mind can come up with lyrics to "Peace Train" :eyes:

http://www.yusufislam.org.uk/index.shtml

This is nothing short of bigotry. On the one hand, Bush says that Islam is a religion of peace, and on the other they detain Muslims for no reason other then the fact that they are "Muslim" ...

26. RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!! IT'S A DEVOUT MUSLIM!!!!
Mr. Islam is one of the greatest living examples of Muslim piety on the earth. The man practices exactly what he preaches, lives a very good life, and has done more to help the children of this world than ANY member of the Bush family.

And the Bush Adminstration has the audacity to call him a 'terrorist'?

 :wtf:
