Does Anyone Have Obama's Back?
It doesn't look like anyone - Democrat, Repug or otherwise - has this guy's back. Even when he is accomodating! Organized HATE + GREED makes a powerful foe.

Obama's facing an unprecedented (in my lifetime) barrage of hate, lies, bigotry and outright war against everthing he wants to do.
I do not hear a LION roaring in Congress, making it tough for wayward Dems to block the people's agenda and stand up for the platform that got the Presidency.

Frankly, senior Dems are cautiously mute, ineffective and blocking anything that would ruffle a special interest. Harry & Nancy are not twisting arms or raising political or committee rank hell for rabidly bigoted or insurrectionist mouthing off by elected officials. Yes we have Kucinich, and Barney Frank - but they don't have the thud of the screaming racists on the Right. Waxman has always played it quiet and tentative, close to the chest - and didn't enforce subpoenas as I recall. No bold vision or effective oratory is coming from the left. I think they are riding out the clock, hoping for a return to business in usual in 2012.

Obama is clearly ON HIS OWN. He's not going to win without some back-up. Where are they?

The MSM plays along with birthers, tea-baggers, C Street and Family machinations(compare media's soft response to the FOX treatment of Reverend Wright which played non-stop during the campaign; only Rachel Maddow is digging into this). Only the world of liberal blogs really goes deals with small-d democratic issues and works for the agenda, limited as it is.

4. Obama's working very well with the Congress
lots of congressfolks in his administration, determined to learn lessons from previous dem administrations. And his popularity has pressured Congress to very quickly get legislation to him as he requests it. Stimulus, cap and trade, health care, etc.

9. More people would have his back if he'd kick out lobbyists and fight for the little guy
Advocate for single-payer, give the finger to Wall Street. stop the offshoring of America's manufacturing, the outsourcing of America's tech sector, and bring the troops home.

Until then, he's got only himself to blame for any back-biting.

12. I'm there......
cause I need me some health care reform, as does the 50 million uninsured!

As much of a "fan" as I can be, this ain't about this one man right now,
this is about my monthly budget and the future state of the economy....big time!

In essence, this is about Life vs. Death for just too many.

So as much of a broken record as I have been these past couple of days,
I am requesting folks to drop a simple email to
some of the folks listed in the media contact list below.
You can also call the media. Leave them a detail message.
Let them know that they are being transparent....
and mention that we already pay for healthcare, so that is not the issue.
Also tell them that they sold us a trillion dollar war, but yet they are against
a trillion dollar health care reform package, which doesn't make sense.

and folks should remember, if we don't do this, perhaps no one else is doing it either,
although sometimes it is easy to be lazy and to believe that someone else is doing
exactly what we ought to do.

There is only "what is best for me". Sometimes that happens to coincide with what is good for the vast majority of Americans.

15. Sure as heck don't see a lot of people defending him pretty much anywhere
Edited on Wed Jul-22-09 02:41 PM by Proud Liberal Dem
The lack of people defending Obama out there in the media and in Congress is deeply concerning. Repukes everywhere and always seemed to have Buscho's back (and front) pretty much down to the end of his (mis-)administration. Utterly shameful. I can only guess (or hope) that their lack of visible support has to do with playing the "cautious game" and waiting to see how the public is responding to the debate before voicing full-throated support for it. What they SHOULD be doing, however, is getting out there and showing people what a crappy deal sticking with the so-called status quo is and how much better things *could* be with some much needed changes not to mention demanding some accountability from the Repukes for not having a plan of their own to cover uninsured people to present and/or forcing the Repukes to explain to the rest of why we should keep the status quo and why it is a better deal for the rest of us.

23. What pisses me off about all this
is that we're in a position of *defending* our position at all!!

With a majority in both houses and a Dem in the White House, we should be framing and controlling the conversation and the Republicans should have their backs against the wall and be defending *their* position.

Damn the corporate media.

But, maybe hard, real news and senate hearings aren't your cup of tea.
