Steele: Joe the Plumber got the GOP its groove back
From Daily Kos

I’m the first one to say that the party, for political expedience and convenience, quite frankly, didn’t do the hard, steady work of building a ground game and a relationship with the voters.

So along comes Barack Obama, he sounds good, he looks great, it’s a beautiful package, and then we had no filler. We had nothing to fall back on.

We couldn’t even argue the basics of the economy in the last election effectively, and it took a happenstance conversation with a plumber before we could really begin to get that groove."

5. Did Steele just call McCain "nothing"?
As in "We had nothing to fall back on" ?

6. My head hurts...
The GOP is pinning their continues survival upon becoming the party of unlicensed welfare queens (or so Steele says) and a third of the nation still takes these jokers seriously.

And at one point, I took them seriously.

You know what? Screw it. PALIN/WEASALBACHER 2012!!!!1111!!!1!11

7. Sadly, the statement isn't totally inaccurate. SammieJoe The Stooge was the source of their fight
back economically.

I'm not saying the arguments or attacks have any logical basis, merit, or were more than marginally effective, just that SammieJo The Stooge did act as the primer for their final (though largely ineffective) thrust against Obama's economic outline.

McCain's whole campaign pretty much turned into "Team of Mavericks, Sarah Palin, Joe The Plumber, blah blah" after the financial meltdown went front and center. Steele's point is one of the few statements he has ever made that have a basis in reality despite being, in effect, a joke.

9. Maybe Steele is actually trying to sabotage the GOP.
Or maybe he's sabotaging it accidentally.

It's really hard to tell.

13. Uhhhhhh......Didn't he recently "quit" the GOP
......and become a Lib or something like that? Not much of an endorsement if he doesn't want to stick around for long. What "groove" is Steele talking about???? :rof:

embraces Joe Wuerzelbacher's brand of stupidity. At least it's authentic.

18. If I recall...the initial "conversation" with Joe was not "happenstance"
But a move by the McCain campaign. he is somehow related to (You knew this was coming right?) Sarah Palin through the "snow machine" racing circuit and Tood Palin. there is video somewhere where Joe admits that the McCain campaign told him to go there and that he lives many miles from the area where he met (Ambushed) Obama in a neighborhood event.
