Baucus Pulls in Contributions from Health Care Firms
Baucus Pulls in Contributions from Health Care Firms

As the Senate Finance Committee takes center stage in the battle over health-care reform, Chairman Max Baucus (D-MT) "has emerged as a leading recipient of Senate campaign contributions from the hospitals, insurers and other medical interest groups hoping to shape the legislation to their advantage," the Washington Post reports.

"To avoid any appearance of favoritism, his aides say, Baucus quietly began refusing contributions from health-care political action committees after June 1. But the policy does not apply to lobbyists or corporate executives, who continued to make donations, disclosure records show."

9. I Love Your Picture Of Him......
all politicians - elected and those running - should have to wear jumpsuits like NASCAR drivers - with the logos of their sponsors. One picture is worth a 1000 words. This says it all. I know that there is a website(s) that reveals campaign donors and lobbying money - but it would be cool if someone did a website that had pics like yours of all these politicians.

2. Recommended. Baucus is a case in point for what's wrong with
both health care and democracy.

3. yep, terribly sad that Baucus has been so contaminated by
health insurance extortion corporation and big Pharma money. Corruption by money has ruined so many of our "representatives" and makes it unlikely that we regular people will actually get health care services. It was rigged before the horses got out of the gate.

In the end, the guy's political career will get serious attention.

6. Righ-on! Progressive Groups, Supporters, Go After Baucus In New Ad Buy
Progressive Groups, Supporters, Go After Baucus In New Ad Buy

Progressive groups are launching a new round of advertising against Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus, (D-Mont.), in an effort to persuade him to support a public option.

The Montana Democrat was the (unfortunate) winner of a contest sponsored by the Progressive Change Campaign Committee and Democracy for America, in which the groups allowed members to choose which senator to target in an ad campaign. Baucus has, at times, indicated he supports a government run plan but it is not certain if the proposal will make it into the final version of his committee's bill.

For this, 15,000 progressive voters determined that he should get an additional bit of political pressure. The ads being run against the senator, which will air in three media markets in Montana -- Billings, Butte-Bozeman, and Helena - are duplicates of an old PCCC spot. Only it is customized for Baucus, pointing to the $3.9 million he has taken from "health and insurance interests."

7. A bought and paid-for tool. My only hope is that these cut-throat...
and back-stabbing Democrats will not be re-elected in the future.

8. Has Any Of The Cable News Networks Or For That Matter Network News........
had Baucus on for an interview and have they confronted him on his being on the take and conflict of interest? I'd be curious to see him have to answer to that and I'd love to see him squirm on camera.

10. When he said Obama was not helping by talking about health care
perhaps he should realize HE isn't helping by being a corrupt tool.

11. Anyone remember the Town Hall where the lady stood up and asked
President Obama if Baucus didn't have a major conflict of interest and shouldn't be chairing a major part of the discussion. She threw that in as a part 2 of a 2 part question on health care reform and the President did not address that part.

It's a fact that many of our Reps are bought and sold to represent corporate interests over the interest of the citizens.

This kind of an event where they sell their appearances for donations from the big bucks is just sickening.

12. I was watching Big Ed when he came on last night ~~ 12:00 midnight PDT
And he started talking about that POS Baucus ~~ $1,500 a freaking day from those bastards.

No wonder he is against any reforms. His total receipts from them are $3.4 million.

Asshat...
