Is Obama About To Open A Can Of Healthcare Whoop-Ass?
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2009/07/move_aside_gibbs.php?ref=fpblg

"Move Aside Gibbs ...

Gibbs briefing cancelled today; Obama speaking himself ... about health care.

Late Update: We checked with the White House and President Obama will not be taking questions. "

Anybody know any details about what Obama'll be saying?

Note: Just heard on teevee that Obama is fine with passing healthcare without a single republican vote.

5. Any idea what time he'll be speaking?
Maybe he's been handling this right all along. "I wanted bipartisanship, I tried for bipartisanship, but the Republicans won't cooperate." Make them the ones who are being partisan.

33. That's how he handled passage of the budget, as I recall. Got most of what he wanted out of it, too.
Nothing will happen overnight, but it will happen.

44. Dr. Phil has a Ph.D.
A Ph.D. is the highest degree in many specialties.

It's a Doctor of Philosophy. He has a Ph.D. in Psychology, and is licensed as a counselor.

Psychiatrists are M.D.s who specialize in mental illness. They can prescribe drugs.

A Ph.D. is also known as a "paper doctorate", as opposed to a "real doctor" (m.d.)

I have a paper doctorate, a Juris Doctor, law degree. Nobody calls me doctor and I don't get no respect, sorta like Rodney Daingerfield.

46. My mistake.
I had heard that he wasn't a real doctor. I assumed that meant that he was not a Ph.D.

I should know better than to accept something I hear so readily, but in his case I guess it was just too easy to believe.

27. Well put.
"Jackassery" is the perfect word for it.

I just wish he wouldn't have announced a certain time and then not shown up on time. He's giving them extra time for more jackassery.

Maybe he's giving them the rope to hang themselves?

Yes. Let's get his oratory and persuasion skills working. We know we can't trust Congress to do the right thing. I think that was the movie that Barack and Michelle saw on their first date. I think they should have a little date night in - some popcorn (or pizza) and get a dvd of Spike's movie. That ought to help rev up the rhetoric.

Go get 'em.
