1. Well, that's good.
Because if he looked at the polls, he would have dropped out of the race by now. They haven't been very good for the past few weeks.

Not that it matters. Just saying.

8. Hmm, most have him tied or slightly behind Bush*
and it's only been a few weeks since the convention. I don't see anything panic worthy there.

14. He would have dropped out of the primaries in August of 2003.
The polls aren't that bad he is starting to come back.

10. and he was right to
Everyone saying he should withdraw after Iowa or New Hampshire, no offense to anyone but I thought it was just sweet to see Kerry triumph despite the odds, and he's been a great nominee, I love learning about him.

11. I'm JUST finishing watching that democratic debate on c-span archive.
It was awesome! So many great candidates. Sucks about Kucinich (sp?) though, I really liked that guy. He got owned by not 'looking' presidential. He had some of the best ideas and came across as the most sincere and knowledgable (excepting possibly Kerry himself)

22. I agree about Kucinich
We should get him into the Senate in 2006, and likewise with Dean (boot out Jeffords in Vermont). Then we'd have Feingold, Obama, Kucinich, Dean, Durbin, and Harkin, now that would be a strong team of progressives. Maybe Barney Frank, taking over Kerry's seat in the Senate? Also, if Herb Kohl decides to retire in 2006, maybe Jon Erpenbach would run. There would be a lot of parallels between Erpenbach and Feingold. Both are awesome progressives, and both came out of the 27th State Senate district in Wisconsin. Then there's Al Franken out of Minnesota... Now let's not get too ahead of ourselves here. But if we can just get over Mt. Everest and get Kerry in the White House, the future looks bright indeed.

that I can't even watch ANY coverage including C-Span anymore.I am serious-I know who I'm voting for and will not be swayed from my choices no matter how hard the SCLM tries.Even my brother a Vietnam vet is questioning Kerry b/c of all the BS nitpicking by the GOP ops in his VVA chartrooms.Keep your eye on the prize is all I tell him and remember;at least his ass was in the grass where was Bush?

24. Here's a good rebuttal:
When you see a license plate that says that someone was a veteran with a purple heart(we have a lot of these in Florida, I always admire all of the --usually older--men that say this...do you now question whether they bled enough to earn the medal?

If they are going to question Kerry's medals, then they should question everyones...if Republicans are going to question every medal earned by a serviceman who risked their lives for our government...then that is a party that veterans should not want to belong to...

Kerry did his service and earned his medals, he should be honored for it just like every other man that served...

13. Never was a less sincere phrase ever spoken
Sorry, but any politician who says that polls don't matter is L-Y-I-N-G. And yes, that includes Kerry.

23. ...
Anyone who says that polls don't matter is probably lying. However, it is quite possible to do your best not to obsess about them, and that is probably what Kerry was getting at.

15. Did they mention...
...that Bush never faces the press? That he and Cheney, in fact, never face anything but carefully selected "audiences" "asking" scripted "questions"?

I didn't think so.

18. The only polls that matter are the internals
The cheap media polls by in large are bogus... they're meant to influence public opinion, not to measure it.

By contrast, campaigns spend a TON of money on their internal polling- they use the best possible methodology to achieve the most accurate results.

Of course, no one here either has access to or can disclose the information gleaned from the internals.... so people are left to fret, allowing themselves to be manipulated by the corporate media... even though a good many of them know better.

20. On Letterman last night
(paraphrasing)... He said he didn't pay attention to polls, and Letterman asked, "Don't you have some people in your campaign who pay attention to them?" Kerry answered, "Yes, and I don't pay attention to those people."
