SS looking for man seen as assassination threat to Bush, Kerry
(NOTE: This article is about an obviously deranged man who may be plotting to assassinate Bush. Kerry is also mentioned as a target. I hesitated posting this, since this kind of topic often brings a few tasteless remarks, often from disruptors. I am posting this for it's news value. Please, let's act like adults in this thread. It is still illegal to threaten the life of the President or the candidate, who is receiving SS protection)

Here is the article and snippets:

http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/234225p-201129c.html

* Lawrence Ward, 59, left his upstate New York home Wednesday with a .30-30 lever-action hunting rifle in the trunk of his car, telling a neighbor, "I'm not coming back." Had a picture of Bush with the words "Dead Man" spraypainted near it.

* Both Bush and Kerry are in town.

* SS cordoned off three square blocks of Midtown Manhattan.

* According to his ex-wife, this guy is very dangerous and suicidal.

* She adds that he's obsessed with weapons, Timothy McVeigh, and the book "The Dead Zone", which depicts the stalking and attempted assassination of a presidential candidate.

* Ward also sent his ex-wife a CD that mentions killing both Bush and Democratic rival John Kerry.

* He was an abusive husband who, according to his wife, seems to be "obsessed" with his 19-year-old daughter.

* According to a neighbor, he speeks in 'anti-government' tones and is intent on 'fixing the system'.

4. Sounds like a Rove campaign trick..
After Rove set up CBS I wouldn't put nothing past him, including hiring imaginary assasins trying to get to Bush..

5. Well if he truly is out to assassinate either man
then he needs to be locked up. No matter what one thinks about a president or his policies, there is no place for something like this. I hope they catch him and he goes away for a long time.

6. First I've seen the Kerry angle mentioned... Clearly Rove wants that
downplayed to get Bush* sympathy.... Check out the various headlines, if you don't believe me...

8. I caught that one little reference
And I know that Kerry is in NY doing the talk show circuit.

Anti-government? McVeigh? High-powered weapons? Sounds pretty freeperish to me.

11. Sounds beyond freeperish.
This is the kind of guy who thinks hitler is left of center. He'll probably be killed before he can do anything. (Keeping my fingers crossed that the guy is picked up before he hurts anyone.)

7. This guy was on the local news at noon...
with pictures, license plate # & &everything you need to know to call him in if you see him.

Much more serious than the usual terrorist bullshit. Methinks this homegrown asshole just might be capable of taking out "alternate targets" if he can't find Bush or Kerry.

I hope they find him fast.
