More Dems, Independents, and respondents overall say they've become more liberal, most Repubs say they're not. Mika must have skipped this part of the report (because it requires reading comprehension?):

Thus far in 2009 (from January through May), 40% of Americans call themselves conservative, up from 37% in 2007 and 2008, and the highest level since 2004...However, the results are conspicuously incongruous with the results of the 2008 elections...Rather than suggesting an upturn in conservatism, the elections, the tattered image of the GOP, depressed identification with the Republican Party, and President Obama's broad popularity have many in and outside of the Republican Party wondering whether the country has outgrown the GOP's largely conservative platform.

In other words, as the last two elections should have taught the GOP, BEING conservative is no longer a guarantee of VOTING conserative--duh!

More important is how everyone including Bartoloma is pushing
the fact the country is more conservative than one realized.

Did you hear her going on about pro-life this morning? And she is very fiscally conservative, not sure what she is socially liberal on, even though she says she "disagrees with some of Sarah Palin's politics"...yet she doesn't go INTO why she is supposedly a Democratic balance to Joe. And she was saying last week that the Iraq war paved the way for the Iran protests, as if to justify the Iraq war. She has hinted at writing a book on liberal media bias from a "liberal Democrat's view" (that's what she called herself in a letter to the NYT), I really just think the charade of being a Democrat is to market her future book/the show.

But the poll doesn't show the starting point of that shift. That could simply mean that people who are way to the left of Obama are moving closer to him - it does not, as she claimed, me that people are becoming right-wing conservatives who agree with Sarah Palin.

She also completely failed to mention that 60% of those polled either became more liberal or stayed the same, which completely blows her argument out of the water.
