Palin: Not a quitter; keeping options on the table
Palin: Not a quitter; keeping options on the table

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Sarah Palin says she's not a quitter, she's a fighter, and she hasn't ruled out re-entering public life someday.

The Alaska governor told CNN in a segment shown Tuesday that "all options are on the table."

Speaking in fishing waders from the town of Dillingham, she says her administration has been paralyzed by fending off frivolous lawsuits and she's taken the right path for her state.

She says her resignation on Friday was a matter of progressing in an unconventional way because that's how Alaskans are.

Palin says she doesn't think she needs a title to affect "positive change," but also says she can't see herself being totally out of public service.

Palin was the Republican vice presidential nominee last fall. She announced on Friday that she will step down as governor on July 26.

Palin: Politically speaking, 'If I die, I die.'

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – Sarah Palin says she's not a quitter, she's a fighter, but adds that, politically speaking, "if I die, I die. So be it."

The Alaska governor spoke in taped interviews on ABC, NBC and CNN on Tuesday morning.

She tells CNN that "all options are on the table" for her future.

But she tells ABC's "Good Morning America" that she recognizes she might not have political staying power, saying "politically speaking, if I die, I die."

Speaking in fishing waders from the town of Dillingham, she says her resignation on Friday was a matter of progressing in an unconventional way because that's how Alaskans are.

Palin says she doesn't think she needs a title to affect "positive change," but also says she can't see herself being totally out of public service.

She is not representative of "how Alaskans are".

10. I don't think the reaction to her quitting has been what she hoped for
Like everything else she does it was a way for her to remain in the spotlight. I believe that she actually thought people were going to beg her not to quit and now that they haven't, she's becoming a bit more desperate and screechy.

I wouldn't be at all surprised to learn that she has decided to un-quit.

11. I hope she doesnt quit
It was hard to imagine an election season more exciting than 2008. Now, with her campaigning for people in 2010 and just narcissistic enough to think she's qualified to run in 2012, I can't wait!

12. Best guess
I'm wondering now if the whole plan is to send her to close races - like the governors' races in Virginia, N.J., etc. - to get the crazy base whipped up to vote. If that happens, and if a couple of races go the GOP's way - even if it's races that looked to go their way anyway - look for Palin to claim it's all thanks to her. Then she'll try to rise from the ashes as the savior of the GOP.

Of course, I'm good with that, because barring unforeseen circumstances, I see no way she wins in a general election. I think moderate Repubs have already looked her over and judged her to be batshit crazy.

14. She won't win a GOP primary either.
There's just too much material that can be used against her and she's too thin-skinned to take national heat from other Republican contenders.

18. Thanks for the link, painful as it was to get through.
I would love to see the Alaska budget showing how money for "the troops" is now being spent on defending "frivolous" lawsuits :wtf:, especially since she is charging complaint-filers THOUSANDS of dollars to get copies of emails.

If anything, I'd say her complete lack of ethics and the unlimited number of potential filers make her a real cash cow for the state!

21. One option is off the table - national politics
She ended that when she quit as governor. I don't care if she doesn't realize it, and I wouldn't expect her to realize it given her low iq and mental abilities.

I wouldn't be surprised if she did make a lame attempt at running for higher office. Let her fabulous base of crazies vote for her, if she is stupid enough to pursue higher office - there are not enough of them to win an election. And being out on her own now, she will make enough gaffes of the kind that can't be hidden or explained away that no independent voter will go near her. I am also betting moderate republicans will continue to be appalled, avert their eyes and refuse to vote for her. And of course, dems never were on her voting team in the first place.

Her supporters are now nothing more than an inconsequential fan club. She'll likely be playing to them twice a week, times TBA, like any other comedian. Given that she has the substance of cartoon character, I am not certain how long it will take for her to realize that she opted out in a permanent way when she resigned.

I can't believe I've seen something this dumb from a clueless politician. The numbers do not work for her as far as getting elected, and there is nothing she can do to change that. Some repubs will likely use her, and then toss her. I'd be pretty surprised if the repubs all kumbya'd and got together as a solid block to vote her into the presidency. The moderate repubs I know actually were so pissed when McCain picked her that they changed their party affiliation and voted Obama. Yeah, long time repubs, some were whole families of repubs, whose pride and joy was a signed photo of them standing with various Bushes. And they ditched their party over Palin. They are not coming back if she is anywhere in sight.

22. Up is down, black is white...
... I quit, I'm not a quitter. What's the point of even arguing with her and her fans when they've abandoned all logic, the English language and any sense of decency.

23. But Sarah is indeed a quitter
as she has amply demonstrated through her public life. Celtic Diva had an excellent post about this just a couple days ago. http://divasblueoasis.com/diary/706/if-we-look-at-the-record-palins-resignation-should-come-as-no-surprise

I was exploring the clever snarkfest which is Wonkette and the plethora of Palin posts. The "post swarm" started when I "consorted" with Dr. Chill to "desecrate" her icon through the evils of photoshop. It has continued through the insanity that has been her resignation and up to the wacked-out strategy of threatening another Alaskan media figure (Shannyn Moore) with legal action.

Among those Wonkette posts was a little gem under the title "win of the afternoon"...they highlighted a comment from Alaska Girl:

She didn't finish her term as mayor, stepping down to run for Lt. Governor. She didn't finish her term on the petroleum board ethics panel, she resigned in protest and then ran for Governor. She doesn't want the office, she just likes running for office. She doesn't want (can't actually) accomplish anything, she just wants to talk about it.

That was absolutely correct.

However, before that, Sarah Palin left the Wasilla City Council only one year into her second three-year term in order to take the Mayor's job.

And, if you go all the way back, it took her five years and five colleges to get a Journalism degree.

Quitting before the job is done is her modus operendi.

<snip>

Today, Sarah Palin doesn't seem to have any problem at all witholding information from Alaskans. It obviously suits her long-term purpose to leave us in the dark. I have my own theory as to what's going on. However, no matter what the actual details of "why" she resigned, it's pretty clear that they involve personal or financial gain...much like the basis for every single ethics complaint filed against her.

If we were paying attention, we should have seen this coming.
