Politico: Obama is too perfect!!!
Edited on Thu Jun-25-09 07:54 AM by SemiCharmedQuark
They'll jump on anything, won't they?

Call it the politics of personal perfection. The Barack Obama brand is as much about being a personal example to the nation as it is about being a political figure. But the danger of that frothy mix of glamour and domesticity is that President Obama could become in the public mind something he never sought to be: the Martha Stewart of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

And political veterans say the fine line between what’s inspiring and what’s annoying can be difficult to spot in advance.

Obama veered further toward Martha Stewart Living territory in an interview with a Pakistani newspaper on June 21. He told the interviewer about his college travels in Pakistan and talked about the exotic dishes he learned to cook there.
...

Comedian Jon Stewart, exasperated by the Obamas’ high-visibility romance and date night on Broadway, complained that the president was making life tough on men across the country. “How do you compete with that?” Stewart griped. “Take it down a notch, dude.”

Note, I watch the Daily Show every day and Stewart wasn't griping, he was joking.

Anyway, lest you have any doubts about where Politico stands:

"Being too perfect can be dangerous for politicians. Just ask Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts governor and GOP presidential candidate is a spectacularly good-looking man, extremely wealthy, well-spoken and accomplished in his professional career
. And a segment of the voting public hated him for it."

1. Comparing Romney to the prez? Boy, they're delusional.
If they attempted a comparison on intelligence or personality, there'd be no article to write.
Romney seems so wooden to me.

5. Yep
"And a segment of the voting public hated (Romney) for it."

Yes, the same segment that hates Democrats who eat mustard on their hamburgers. The completely irrational ridiculous segment. Mitt lost because the GOP base hates him. The GOP base already hates Obama for being "perfect," i.e., for being educated, smart, well-spoken, well-traveled, etc. etc.

9. They don't seem to understand that people view Obama as sincere & likable, while Mitt is a weasel.
Big difference.

People like and trust Obama.

People would NOT trust Romney as far as they could throw him.

I think sincerity is the big difference.

What a clueless comparison.

12. Politico: What can we bitch and moan about to generate content and traffic?
Up next in Politico:
1. Obama's eggs, is he too "hard" for the american public?
2. Another senator sleeps around, can we tear our hair out and rend our clothes now?
3. Waffles; perhaps the odious cancer destroying america?

Tabloid journalism is lame, whether it's on the web, TV, or in a supermarket checkout stand.
