Was it the WIFE?
Edited on Wed Jun-24-09 08:38 PM by angee_is_mad
Who anonymously gave the emails to the newspaper? Since it was his personal email, my money is on the wife or someone who is close to the wife.

Irregardless, I most say I admire her telling him to get the HELL OUT, because she wanted to maintain her dignity for her boys. Now that is a role model, who is showing 4 man-childs that this is unacceptable behavior.

You GO GIRL:fistbump:

1. That was my first thought when I heard that. LOL
Yeah, she kicked him out the house 2 weeks ago and told him not to contact her.

3. Doubt it.
The paper's been sitting on them since Dec. She found out about the affair about 5mo. ago.

with a chance of further power

27. I disagree to a point
I think she probably put herself in a place of denial. If she didn't see it, he wasn't doing it. That's probably how she was able to put up with it and then 5 months ago he had his true confessional talk with her.

32. What I read somewhere was that they were going through counseling
To try to 'save' the marriage.

My guess is that he could not give up his lover and the wife dropped the bomb on him just before he went AWOL. I wonder if he had a meltdown, realizing that he was going to lose everything - his family and his political career - took off maybe with the idea of going hiking, and then went to Argentina to see what kind of future he could have with his lover.

The wife kept quiet until Sanford had his presser and the reason her statement sounds pissed is that he didn't own up to the full extent of what was going on - like he knows he has a divorce in his future.

Edited on Fri Jun-26-09 11:24 PM by Rhiannon12866
No matter how pissed off she is, she wouldn't want to humiliate her children. :-(

Mrs Krowle drove that word out of my life about forty-five years ago. I strongly suspect the old arthritic hag may have been a Nun in a previous life.

lol I love angee_is_mad but I am already envisioning the long, boring lecture my grandmother (an English teacher for 35 years) would give her over the use of such a non-word.

Standing by your man always seems to be puke worthy. She wouldn't allow herself to be used.

19. I think it HAD to have been Mrs. Sanford who released the emails, perhaps
in the heat of anger when she first heard of the affair (I think the "five months" could easily be a miscount by Sanford-- I'm sure June FLEW by for him) and then she quickly regretted it and asked The State to sit on them. Once she figured out he was in Argentina last week, she lifted her hold on publishing the emails.

I am guessing that the email acct (or internet connection)they were sent from was somehow paid for using a credit card the Sanfords jointly hold, making it legal for her to release them to the newspaper. If the emails had been obtained by hacking, I don't think The State would be in a legally-defensible position to publish them.

30. Dunno. Think it's possible for a pissed off staffer to do it
or a really pissed off eldest son. If the wife knew, dollars to donuts some of the boys knew too. Eldest son seems about right to be looking for ways to start testing his own metal and dad cheatin on mom is a sure fire way to get the blood boiling.

Didn't the missus make a crack about him having to get away from the boys at the beginning of this mystery?

Emails sent by son would likely get set aside for awhile by a newspaper.

33. That's a juicy theory too, but I still think it had to be the wife b/c a son that hacked into
Daddy's email giving them the goods wouldn't give the paper legal cover. Follow the money...

31. Maybe, maybe not. I vote that we end the speculation on this/her involvement.
Is she did, so what?

Maybe she was fed up with being humiliated.

Let's keep our scopes focused on the Governor.

He's the one who deserves the scrutiny, IMO.

This guy could have run for President, he has a great family, and threw it all away.

He is too much of a jerk to be president, even a Republican president, and even here.
