18. There ya go, that's a good comparison.
I think the thing that's even more embarrassing is that Vitter's constituents may be dumb enough to let him get away with it at the ballot box too.

Hypocrisy in the GOP is alive, well and pervasive.

idiotic behavour!

Is that true of Gov. Sanford? Besides it is none of our business unless we live in South Carolina.

9. Bullshit it's not our business.
He made it our business, when he puts my family in Hilto Head and Spartanburg at risk,

The man had national ambitions. He needs to be off the political stage.

"There is something about transporting someone across state lines for prostitution"
sounds a lot like projection to me, there is no facts but hear say.

Show me the facts on that statement of yours and then we can talk.

I'm not defending Spitzer I'm for fair play, a crime is a crime no matter who committed it,

Sanford should resign just as Spitzer did, they are both public official who have dishonor
their respective role as public servant.

8. Rethugs are morally bankrupt and if they ask for forgiveness then
their religion tells them that all is well. Sinning is accepted by pigs and is not the guage of a man - according to them. Once caught all they need is to act like they just made q small mistake and will be better for it. Of course lying to the wife and kids is OK also. What chance do the electorate have? You have seen it before. Nixon - Reagan - Bush The next Bush - all their religious voters feel closer to beingg like their all mighty powerful GOD when they forgive these men who lust after harlots. Of course if Sanford were a Democrat then it would be - he is corrupting our children and serving SATAN. He has defiled his marraige and ruined his son's lives. STone the sinner NOW - BullShit spewing time.

Hope this helps.

The fact is he did confess, he did resign and at this time he has no serious political influence. (And won't for a very long time with due penance.)

If he had been a Republican, he may have confessed (but not necessarily), but he would not have resigned, he would have faced no criminal charges (probably not even an investigation), and his political position would have been unaffected. Party loyalists would have made sure of that by circling the wagons, planting distracting stories in the news, having the talking head praise his honesty & mercilessly attacking anyone who would dare to suggest he should resign.

26. Because Spitzer broke the law and Sanford didn't
While leaving the country without telling your wife, or your aides, or your lt. Governor, so you can go meet your secret mistress is irresponsible, it's not illegal. Paying an escort for sex is.

He might as well resign tho. His political career is over. As one of those self-righteous, morality-in-everything type politicians he now comes accross as the ultimate hypocrite. (Which he is).

27. Adultery is against the law in South Carolina (I learned this from a David Corn tweet)
http://www.scstatehouse.gov/CODE/t16c015.htm

SECTION 16-15-60. Adultery or fornication.
Any man or woman who shall be guilty of the crime of adultery or fornication shall be liable to indictment and, on conviction, shall be severally punished by a fine of not less than one hundred dollars nor more than five hundred dollars or imprisonment for not less than six months nor more than one year or by both fine and imprisonment, at the discretion of the court.

It's not illegal to cheat on your wife. Now, if he used state money to fly, then yes he should go.
