...NOT.

While President Obama addresses complex issues with an open mind and a deep intellect, many DUers are hand-wringing and having conniptions over how similar he is to the Idiot King, George W. Bush, who could not even recite a time-worn axiom without butchering it (fool me once...). It is absurd to say the two men are one and the same.

I don't like some of what Obama is doing. I do like some of what Obama is doing. I never liked anything Bush did (except his leaving office, and he didn't even do that fast enough). So I figure that means we have a president who is doing a pretty good job at addressing the issues facing the country, and not just those facing the Democratic Party.

If I agreed with everything Obama was doing, I'd start to worry that I'd just become as lockstep as the Republicans.

3. I am part of "all of the U.S."
So yes, that does make it about me. My opinion counts, too.

2. Thank you for posting this.
I think a lot of people here feel as you do. We aren't Kool-Aid drinkers. At worst, we're pragmatists or realists. Why does everything have to be so extreme these days? It's as if people are unable to see shades of gray, so they lump it into the black or white category of their choosing.

Either Obama is not enough like Bush in that he could just ram his policies up the US's ass if he had 'guts' or he's too much like Bush in that he's ramming his policies up the US's ass against their will. So, what is it? Too weak or too strong?

10. People are frustrated ok?
We are essentially having a debate between the corporate democrats and the real democrats in congress right now on whether Healthcare is a right or a privilege. We have 58 United States Senators.

The President is the leader of the party, he's going to take a few arrows on this.

14. Umm, No, In Case You Haven't Noticed, That's NOT The Debate
The debate is over the public option portion of healthcare reform. Reform is coming, there's no question about that anymore. That's a HUGE fucking tectonic shift in the debate. It's not whether or not there should be reform (which is what it was for a LOOOONG time) but what shape that reform should take. That's massive fucking progress. Reform is coming, and I'd bet money there will be a public option AND ultimately, single payer, not as soon as I'd like, but once reform happens there ain't no turning back.

15. Any time someone calls themselves the "real" version of something I stop listening.
The freepers say they are "real" Americans or "real" patriots.
Fundies say they are "real" Christians.

It's a way of setting oneself or one's group apart and claiming some kind of superiority, i.e., if we're "real," you are fake. That immediately sets up an antagonistic forum and taints any kind of dialog between those with different points of view.

Let me guess, you consider the Congressional Democrats who believe as you do to be "real"democrats but those that disagree are not, right? So you are the one who determines who is "real" and who is not? We're a big tent and just because someone disagrees with you doesn't make him or her any less a Democrat.

BTW, I didn't read the rest of your post I was so pissed at your use of the word "real." I may even agree with your position on health care. I just object to the way you presented your point and want you to know how it shuts down dialog.

16. Thanks for the tip on language
How about traditional democrats and new democrats who take large donations from Healthcare corporations. Does that make it easier for you?
