I don't envy Pres. Obama.

He does not have it easy.

Economic turmoil at home.

Still two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

North Korea bullying its way around the world stage.

Chaos in Iran.

Israel and Palestine still worlds apart.

So much on his plate. So much to do and so little time to do it in.

I don't think any president has had to deal with so much so fast.

Even Roosevelt didn't have to fight a World War until a bit later in his presidency.

I would not be surprised if Pres. Obama looks 20 years older by the time his first term is up. Hell, I'm stressed just watching all this. I can't imagine what it's like for him right now.

3. Remember people laughed at Biden when he said Obama
will be tested by an int'l crisis within his first 6 months? I wonder if they're still laughing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=keEsJVrlw6I

ABC News Matthew Jaffe Reports: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions.

Mark my words, the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. Were about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you dont remember anything else I said. Watch, were gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy.

I can give you at least four or five scenarios from where it might originate, Biden said to Emerald City supporters, mentioning the Middle East and Russia as possibilities. And hes gonna need help. And the kind of help hes gonna need is, hes gonna need you - not financially to help him - were gonna need you to use your influence, your influence within the community, to stand with him. Because its not gonna be apparent initially, its not gonna be apparent that were right.

Not only will the next administration have to deal with foreign affairs issues, Biden warned, but also with the current economic crisis.

4. I agree with you!
But remember...he wanted to do this. And I suspect he had a pretty good idea of what he was getting into...

I doubt that he has any regrets.

12. No kidding
Especially when most of these problems are nothing more than the stubborn ignorance of the parties involved in the first place.

15. FDR was attacked by both sides too.
Conservative, southern Dems thought he was surrounded by a bunch of Jews, Catholics and "Nigger lovers."

Conservative republicans thought he was a power hungry socialist.

16. And miles to go before he sleeps
Edited on Mon Jun-22-09 08:26 AM by lunatica
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village, though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there's some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

************

My hope is that the landscape looks very different in 4 and then in 8 years.

21. Somebody had to step up and aren't
we lucky it was a reality based President.

We saw Michelle give a speech in San Francisco(via the net) on volunteering in your commmunity, tonight, and she made references to the tough job and how hard he's working but that we can help by being a part of the "United We Serve" volunteer org.

22. Good thing he's young because this job is going to wear him down.
Still tonight I saw a clip of him glad-handing in the Rose Garden and he oozed vitality in a sea of old white manflesh.
